呵呵，评论算不上，算是观后感吧。不明白为什么有人用“变态”二字形容这样的
影片，我倒是觉得这部片子朴实、真实并且亲切。呵呵，看到一个人说必须大于28
岁才能看得懂这部片子，我觉得没有必要，只要是七十年代末八十年代初出生的，
都可以感受到片中的亲切---不是因为情节而是因为细节。
有些片子需要以情节取胜，譬如好莱坞的大片，故事跌宕起伏，扣人心弦；但是有
些电影却是以细节感人，《孔雀》是后一类，就像旧照片，一切都是静止的，没有
故事，只有记忆。Rememberance of Things Past，用这个短语形容《孔雀》再恰当
不过了，只是回忆而已。
故事的开始环境就十分熟悉，七八十年代典型的北方城市，典型的老城区。不知道
是不是每一个城市都有一个区叫做“老城--区”--以区别建国后新建的工厂密集的
工业区，至少在我的家乡是这样。老城区是历史的沉积，胡同巷子都很窄，街道也
密集，不少的房子都是很久以前留下来的，青砖黑瓦，有些残破了。屋子里面采光
不太好，所以夏日一般都把小桌子放在屋外吃饭，炉子（我们那里叫“煤火”） |

《多伦多星报》记者数年前曾经到该公司参观，并跟一批员工见面，当中包括擅长旧式丝网印刷，负责设计标准道路标志的技术员，以及专责特别标志的电脑设计员。
由于每年要制造大量标志牌，难免有一或两个错漏，但在湖滨大道(Lake Shore Blvd.)交匯处两个大型标志明显串错字，实在应该感到尴尬。
多市市民乔治(Christopher George)早前电邮星报，告知在连接CNE西端附近，斯特罗恩大道(Strachan Ave.)以南，在湖滨大道(Lake Shore Blvd.)夹纪念路(Remembrance Dr.)交匯处两个巨型路牌问题。他表示，两个路牌都被错写成“Rememberance Dr.”而非“Remembrance Dr.”，实在难明人们在英文串字方面竟然如此不济。他又忆述数年前曾见到有人将“Eglinton Ave.”错写成“Eglington Ave.”。

that throws the novel into oblivion. the value
of a novel, as i see, depends on the intrinsic
tie between culture and the work, that's how
'timeless' comes. there are still some "copyright-
expired old crap" floating around, like Thomas
Mann's Magic Mountain, Proust's Rememberance, etc.
