resource让你的career有发展，我只是强调不要盯着ranking，要看实质。看帖太不认
真了：）
而且我也没说top学校不好啊，主要针对大家对所谓搓校的一些看法。而且看到一些人
就是top 50以后就是搓校，说实话，50以后的学校也有牛人做得很好，因为这样那样原
因在那开始career，然后不挪窝的。
我所谓的牛校的优势不言而喻－－就给你这种不认真看帖的人明白说吧。越好的学校
resource越多（我坚持的从来就是resource)，其中包括水平高的同事，好的有动力学
生，学校的资源，拿funding的支持（牛校一般有不少好的center，internal grant就
很不错了，level和普通学校不是一个量级）。预祝所有在market的人都能拿到好学校
。但是，就像我前面说的，个人前途还是看自己，只要resource足够，没去最好的学校

妹的也会上。上完了，回家还有兄弟姐妹分享。 这种分享，不是一个多丰富有趣的妈
妈可以取代的。 当然，不是所有的娃都喜欢整天被人围着，也不是所有的娃都喜欢和
兄弟姐妹分享。 但是，有兄弟姐妹的，多了一个分享的option, 就算这个option未必
会老用。
对娃的坏处：娃越多，父母的resource能分得越少。这些resource体现在方方面面,有
时间，有金钱，有心思。preschool的阶段体现在你每天能给娃读几个故事，一周去几
次公园； 到了school age,体现在你能去每个娃班上volunteer几次，上多少兴趣课。
再大了，就是能出多少college fund. 当然，有些娃不需要很多父母的attention,也自
个儿挣scholarship，不要爸妈学费。 像前面说的，多出来的这些，也是个Option。碰
到这么省心省钱的娃，父母可以把resource花到其他地方， 给自己父母养老啊，回报
社会啊。

这个确实不太容易。尽管一般的原则是 better safe than sorry，但这条规则
也不太好掌握。
这个在具体的家庭，我觉得要具体要区分 human-hour resource 和 financial
resource。
Human-hour resource 相对简单，因为是自己实行，具体不说了，各家自己掌握。
在 financial resource 上，如果在小学初中阶段，要一个上私立、另一个上公立
这么大的差别，我觉得至少要相当于 IQ 上 30 个点及以上的差别，比如 100 vs
130，或者 130 vs 160。（声明这不是指要去做 IQ 测试，而是说量化一下
equivalent 的差别的感觉）。
如果仅仅是相当于 15 个点的差别，考虑到娃小时候的预测对个体的误差很大，
我个人觉得不 justified 做那么大的 financial 的差别的决定。Better Safe
than Sorry。
但实话实说这种情况出现的概率不高。除了 developmental disease/syndrome
