决定给retaining wall 做个sister wall.
自己设计了图:
第一次动手做水泥, 没有买拌好现成的.
想用袋装的水泥找找感觉.
定好了钢筋和水泥, 找了个劳模帮手就开工了.
工具有铁铲, hammer drill, 两个塑料桶, 一根水管, 一个手动搅拌机.
周六挖好沟, 打洞, 上epoxy, 绑钢筋.
周日灌footing.
这张照片可以看见旧墙上的油漆被打掉, 上了一层thinset mortar. 这是我自己琢磨的一道工序. 呵呵
下周做form, 灌墙体. |

今天检查了，一共16个，都没有问题，买了个牙医小镜子，照了半天，现在放心了。过
程基本很
容易，但是把valve cover装回去时候想换新的spark plug tube seals，旧的老化得太
厉害了，花了一两个小时才搞下来。
拆valve cover之前顺便做了个compression test，这玩意没啥用，但是还是做了下，
一号cylinder 245，二号235，三号243，四号240.没啥问题。

很多地方装fence改fence还要申请permit. 你要的这种我看在很多地方都不行。

发帖数: 4468 | 19 检查过程很简单，但是需要注意的是这个车把valve cover装回去时候要很小心，spark
plug tube很锐利，很容易把spark plug tube的gasket弄破。
如果打开以后retainer是挂掉的，我觉得换retainer我搞不定。。。需要特殊工
具overhead-valve spring compressor tool，见图6；还起码需要air compressor往气
缸里面打30-40psi空气，这样换valve retainer过程中valve不会掉下去，我木有
compressor。
这个其实是一个很好的升级过程，注意，intake侧的8个valve retainer和retainer
keeper都可以
从AP1升级到AP2，AP2升级过的retainer坚固很多，坊间传闻是没有任何一台AP2的
retainer挂掉过；exhaust侧的8个可以不换或者是就换AP1的，基本上来说exhuast侧的
AP1挂掉的也很少，而且如果换成AP2的会导致转速上不去了。

我的圣诞节project是检查valve retainer。
因为AP1比如三档红线该进四档，但是misshift到二档了，valve retainer可能会变形
，最讨厌的是。。。没有任何症状。更糟糕的是，misshift以后有人是开了3万英里以
后，忽然有一天变形的那个retainer不行了valve忽然掉进发动机里面，导致发动机整
个挂掉。
什么compression test，leak down test，全都检查不出来retainer是否有问题，发动
机声音更是不会有任何征兆。唯一可行又很简单的办法就是开valve cover肉眼检查16
个valve retainer，你肯定看不到会有crack，但是可以观察出来形变。需要用一个牙
医用的小镜子左看看右看看。
这玩意困扰我很久了，我车子买来一年已经开了快2万miles了，暂时没问题，但是我还
是很不放心。论坛无数人发动机因为这个挂掉，触目惊心。

四年前买的房子， 后院有个挺大的水泥 inground游泳池, 离房子也比较近。游泳池的
周围是山坡，树木很多， 孩子们只能在sideyard上玩。 原房主当年是把山坡挖平了。
到镇里查了记录，应该是1974年建的，明年就40年了， 比我还老。
用了两年，感觉挺麻烦，主要是
1． 我的游泳池没有heating，全靠太阳加热， 而且到三点以后树荫就遮住了， 所
以一年算下来最多能游不超过两个月， 基本一个月左右。利用效率太低。
2． 每年open/close游泳池， 买chemical， 多出的水电费， 也差不多要$800左右
了。
3． 周围树太多， 每年从游泳池里面捞树叶很累
4． 有个大水塘在后面，总是个安全隐患。 虽然我周围有栅栏，有门锁着，但还是
担心。原来房主没有cover，我买了个大帆布cover， 没舍得装专门的safety cover,
估价要$2000多。

不能去那家。我之前在他们家做invisalign.当时是一次性付清的。做之前他promise了
很多。包括给我补牙还有拔智齿，还有最后给我做一次漂白。结果到了要拔牙的那天。
他告诉我要收1800块拔4颗。但是我跟我妈都在。我们都说他当时不是那么说的。结果
他死不认账。我后来正好也要回国。就回国拔掉了。结果invisalign带了大概快半年的
时候他说他们出了一个什么钻石洁牙。要我赶紧去登记。我说我不用了。我就用你给我

因为做了survey出来结果，fence刚好在property line上，我提了要求给邻居不许把
fence做为他们landscape的retaining wall。他们答应做改动。
改动后的样子如图所示，邻居的landscaper在和fence平行，并且和fence保持一定距离
的地方加了一根很粗的木头，在木头里间隔一定距离打了rebar（rebar下端好像进到地
面里，多深不知道，上面露出木头的上方一截）。
仔细一看还是发现两个问题：
我要求他们不能把fence作为retaining wall，表面上看貌似他们用这个木头当了泥土
的retaining wall，但是实际上：
1：放了一块砖头在木头和fence之间，我觉得这个显示他们觉得这个木头作为
retaining wall的信心还是不足。我要求他们把砖头取下来，看木头是否能稳住，对方
的listing agent开始坚决拒绝，在我威胁要给他发certified mail的时候，他才气呼

或者你做retaining wall,或者他做retaining wall. 现在存在一个fence，只要没塌，
他本人也不nice, 就不会出钱造retaining wall. 只能等新的邻居造retaining wall.
如果确信fence是你的，就把它拆了，然后两边高度差超过4 feet,他必须造retaining

之前上来问张国平做院子如何，主要是想做retaining wall，挖土，版上有人说清洁院
子还不错，我想中国人好沟通，应该不会差到哪去，找他估了价格就叫他开始做，说好
了做之前签个合同，结果当天早上给了我个名片写了"付3.5k"当收据，然后说完工的时
候签contract。
填院子的部分是用现有的土填，开始说好给compact，我说要每铺一层土就要compact一
下，一层土8inch吧，张说好。结果开工了就打算用挖土机挖土的时候来回走几遍就算是
compact了。
挖土不说了 都是血泪，我后来找别人来看院子人说这土弄得不好，增加工作量了。
说说retaining wall吧.他的两个手下，挖了能有3、4inch深的土，开始铺gravel。我要
建的retaining wall有3尺高，按照正规来说要先挖沟，沟的深度要足够埋一块6"厚的砖

发帖数: 2310 | 37 之前上来问张国平做院子如何，主要是想做retaining wall，挖土，版上有人说清洁院
子还不错，我想中国人好沟通，应该不会差到哪去，找他估了价格就叫他开始做，说好
了做之前签个合同，结果当天早上给了我个名片写了"付3.5k"当收据，然后说完工的时
候签contract。
填院子的部分是用现有的土填，开始说好给compact，我说要每铺一层土就要compact一
下，一层土8inch吧，张说好。结果开工了就打算用挖土机挖土的时候来回走几遍就算是
compact了。
挖土不说了 都是血泪，我后来找别人来看院子人说这土弄得不好，增加工作量了。
说说retaining wall吧.他的两个手下，挖了能有3、4inch深的土，开始铺gravel。我要
建的retaining wall有3尺高，按照正规来说要先挖沟，沟的深度要足够埋一块6"厚的砖
和5、6inch厚的gravel，也就是应该至少挖1尺深的沟。我立刻说不行，这样太浅建ret
aining wall不安全，我家retaining wall全长有150尺左右，这样一颗砖都不打算给我

retainer，医生跟他说的也是天天晚上戴。我跟我周围的好多美国同事讨论过retainer
的问题，他们小时候整完牙，医生也要求他们天天晚上戴retainer，他们懒着戴，所以
有四个美国同事牙齿又乱掉了，有一个美国同事已经开始人生第二次整牙了。所以我觉
得不管小时候还是成年整牙，retainer可能都应该一直坚持戴，如果不戴牙齿很可能会
自己游走。 |

orthodontist，选了其中一个，她用suresmile，网上对他的评价不多，但是那么一，2
个评价都是好的，而且从业30年，感觉挺可靠，而且用suresmile，周期短些，而且不
用拔牙。就定了她。
这周把brace 拿了，基本等于final了。然后之前说牙后面有retainer，加牙套
retainer。但是门牙还是有缝，她说门牙因为touch point在中间，有缝没办法的事情
，她说不用bonding。我花那么多钱，还留缝，自然想bonding掉。没想到拿牙套的当天
，因为她的plan里面没有门牙bonding，所以她就刷刷把所有的retainer弄了。而且门
牙好像有突出，跟lateral牙齿看起来很不协调。还有右边下面的3颗牙齿，因为之前用
rubber bands，明显参差不齐，拿牙套的当天就跟她说了，她执意拿下牙套。然后用
retainer来校正。
好吧，retainer换一次要250，而且效果还不知道。之前只发现右边下面的2颗牙齿要校

一边的邻居没有retaining wall，下水较快。这样靠retaining wall的一边地基偏高，
另一边偏低。
问了city，说邻居建retaining wall违反code了，必须拆了，不过没人举报，估计也不
会怎样。
现在想了想，有几个选择
1）向city反映，让邻居拆了
2）跟邻居商量一下，看能不能cover一部分地基的修理费用
3）认了
问一下选择2可行吗？
