for my 4-week-long and long expected vacation.

them is currently working with RITT. Did not get

suppose I have 3 beams:red blue and yellow.
I use each beam transfer 1 channnel of signal,
for example, 10Gbit/s. Then I input all the
three beams into one fiber, then the system can
be upgraded from previous single channel system
of 10GB/S to 30GB/S.--This is WDM.
If I insert a lot of beams, each of which has different
color ( freq.), into one fiber, then It's DWDM. For example,
100 different colors, each color transmit 10Gbit/s,
then you can transmit 1TB/s ove |

E domain, and most of the E switch are produced by
your company.(kick!) There is even some doubt about
the future of the O switch---since the E switch can
keep up with the pace of the development, why not
bother to....
The main focus on switch in WDM now is OXC w/o wavelength
converter--this is a key factor. Will the switch have
the wavelength convertor or not will fundamentlly
influence the topology of the physical network.

There are smarter ways then just popping up the link
capacity. You can achieve higher bandwidth by treating WDM
links as shared resource instead of just end-to-end
independent channels. Go to look at WashU Terra Bit Burst
Switch project for details.

$355M just to get on hold of the switching fabric chip they

Check your mailbox.
It's higher level than that. It uses dynamically assigned
channels to carry data bursts. Basically, bigger burst uses
more links. See the project paper for details.
I guess it has to be TDM regarding buses, and it is self
designed cuz there are issues particular to switching
issues. We have our own switch element, input processor,
and output processor. PCI buses are not quick enough for
high end swicthes, I think. How do you keep up with OC-192
links? A 6-port switc |
