Day 3：先到了大岛最东端。从11号到130到132（路上的树木很精彩），然后在132尽头
继续开1英里的unpaved的路（但是很平整），在即将到尽头的时候右拐上一条岩浆石铺
的路（必须4驱），颠簸行1英里，就来到一片很漂亮的海边，以及一个叫Champagne的
Pond，水是有地下热源的很温暖（可以认为是个温泉池）。泡泡很不错。而且可以在
jeep车里面和狰狞的岩浆路合影，可以拿去唬人。这个行程就是看蓝宝书得来的。出来
后拐上137，大约2英里后右拐上非常漂亮的充满热带雨林景色的Pahoa-Pohoiki路出来
，就奔向Hilo了。11号公路过了Hilo再往北就是19号公路了。著名的AKAKA瀑布在19号
公路的大约13英里处。但是在19号公路的7英里处，可以拐上一条长约4英里的Scenic

今年很早就想好要做掉这三座14er, 恰好上星期inchigh来组织；
但星期五下午看了看天气， 星期六会有些低云，
还有可能有小阵雨， 星期天天气倒好些， 是和大家一起risk可
能差一些的天气呢， 还是一个人solo好一些的天气？
想了想还是选择前者。
早上2:00多起来， 3点多出门， 6:15到trailhead, 其他人已经
到了， 6:30左右出发。 看得见山顶上几百尺在云里，
不过还没有下雨的迹象。
过了Kite Lake很快就进入上坡阶段， 一位健将同志一马当先，
我们第二梯队三个人在8点出头到了13300ft多的saddle,
向左转不久就进入了一段乱石岗， 之后很快进入了云雾
之中， 这一进云后南北就有些不辨， 还好也没走弯路，
off-trail了一段后很快转到了上山顶的正路。 Mt Democraft
山顶还在云中， 所以没有久留。
原路向下回到saddle, 9:10左右， 继续向前面的Mt Cameron
和Mt Lincoln前进； 从北面吹来的山风不小， |

Capitol Peak，14ers.com的难度排行榜上名列第一，虽然很多人有保留，毕竟是众多
山友投票选出来的，民意基础强大。很多爬过的人都告诉我"it's my favorite", "I
will do it again", "You will love it", etc. 同样的话几乎没有人用在Little
Bear身上。如果说Little Bear是魔教教主的话，Capitol就是少林寺方丈，他强大到一
种程度，已经不屑于暗箭伤人了。 即便是那些已经不怎么爬14ers的高手，提到
Capitol的时候也会来一句：“it’s a classic.”
有意无意把Capitol 留到最后，大概是因为Middlebrook帮主曾说过：“Once you do
Capitol, all the rest won't be as fun.” 从Lake Como回来觉得自己已经准备好了
，经过一个夏天的“南征北战”，无论体力还是心态都相当不错，很想再接再厉，拿下

标 题: 三人小分队顺利登顶铁人山

七折腾八折腾早上8点顶着细雨上山，2小时10分钟后到达 Heaton Saddle，休息20分钟
以后，我拿着GPS犯了个愚蠢的错误，致使我们来来回回走冤枉路，加上分析讨论的时
间，总共浪费了约1小时。找对路线以后，我们又花了3个半小时，在下午3时到达铁人
山山顶（这一段平均每小时上升1000ft）。
山顶蓝天澄净，阳光和暖，Mt Baldy 在咫尺之遥耸立于云海之上。我们在山顶休息了
一小时，4点开始下山，并于 6:15 回到Heaton Saddle。稍事休息以后继续下山，最终
在晚上8点回到 Heaton Flat trailhead。而后开去半岛吃腐败晚餐。
计上山时间7小时，下山4小时，山顶休息1小时。总计12小时。其中上山时间包括了浪
费的1小时，上下山时间里均包括了途中的休息时间。总里程我同意阿诺的判断，应该

这六月的洛杉矶竟然连天阴云密布，虽然没有飘雪，却也曾雷声大作，不知是否出于山
寨窦娥的功力。一路往山里开，只觉得大雾愈渐浓厚，又飘起了毛毛雨。到停车场打开
车门，一股凉气迎面扑来，我们赶紧都套上了长袖。这样湿冷的天气对爬山却不是坏事
，因为没有了暴晒之苦，还能少带点水减轻负重。时间虽然不算太晚，停车场却已几乎
满员。三人简单收拾停当便向 Heaton Saddle 进发。
没走多久长袖就穿不住了，几乎饱和的空气湿度把汗都逼了出来。虽然这时候没怎么
下雨，但每人的脸上都水汪汪的。最夸张的要数 sunshine99，手上拿着擦汗的纸巾，
挤了一下竟有水哗哗地流出来。在这样的阴雨天里草丛和灌木都吸足了水分，鞋子和裤
腿很快就湿了。一路爬升到了山脊，小道逐渐变平，走起来轻松了，但灌木却越长越高
，“湿身”的部分也逐渐向上蔓延到小腿、大腿、和上身。快到 Heaton Saddle 的时
候下起了密密的细雨，我们却懒得穿雨衣，在一人多高的树丛中穿行，一不小心就会被
高处枝叶上的雨水灌一脖子。sunshine99 和 uglyduke 于是走得小心翼翼想绕过这些
枝叶。我从小在多雨的地方长大 |

We'll hike up Iron Mountain to Gunsight Notch, then down down Gold Dollar
Mine, if we have enough time, we'll explore Eagle Mine which is less than a
mile away, but most likely not.
From Gold Dollar Mine, we'll take a "use trail" back to saddle.
Total is 17 miles - 8,000 ft elevation gain. Some class 3 section.
I'm thinking Sat 10/16 or sometime in November.

I won't checking this board until Sunday, anybody want to join, don't send
me message, just go to carpool meeting 5 AM.
But don't join if you haven't done any hikes more than 4,000 ft. Keep in
mind this is a training hike, we need to complete all the peaks. Because
this is a loop rather than a round trip, you'll need to be comfortable
hiking alone (on trail) if you want to bail out.

发帖数: 503 | 35 按照我们的计划，唯一可能阻止我们登顶的是7000尺以上的可能冰雪。
我们为中途下山设了一个checkpoint，那就是6243尺的一个小peak。如果我们不能在两
点以前赶到那里，我们就会原路返回到Alison Mine（约需3-4小时）。但是我们不会从
Alison Mine原路返回，因为那样要摸黑过河，而且下午的水位也会高一些。我们会沿
一条use trail在天黑前走到Alison Saddle（约需一个小时），再沿常规路线的下半段
返回。
等我们花了约三个半小时在两点钟之前到达6243，看到上面基本没雪，最后决定登顶，
天黑之前（实际是7点半）下到Alison Saddle。 最后是10:15回到trailhead。
的路上，最后的时间分配已经到了安全考虑的极限了。。。 |

需要National Forest Adventure Pass停车，难度比Mt. Baldy略小，
适合夏季的路线之一，有树荫，溪水，除了Santa Anita Loop，
这大概是最不晒的了，约有30%的路程暴露，秋天有些秋叶景色欣赏。

空气。
一万英尺的夜空很美，但是你要背40磅的背包走7迈的山路。洁白的雪是巨大的地毯，
巨大的松树支撑起静谧的夜空。在高处眺望，寻常烦恼喧嚣的街市也是如此温馨。还没
有入睡，你已经在梦中了。
上雪山，体力是必要之一，但天气才是决定的因素。年初来时，第一天积雪中迈步迟缓
；第二天登顶冰爪绷断，被困大雪坡上，幸亏队友搭救。再看这次，如同梦幻般理想的
天气。
从devils slide trailhead到saddle，再到第一个分叉4.3英里秋意正浓。
只有个别路段的积雪。只有到了9000英尺以上的山阴面才能看到成片的积雪。
11点25出发，2小时到saddle, 6小时到达营地。我们的营地设在Willans Joinction向
前0.8英里的地方。谢天谢地，这里有足够的积雪我们可以感受雪地露营新奇。

发帖数: 4509 | 44 Hondo Canyon to Saddle Peak，在西区Topanga一带，有谷底树林草地海景等多种景色
，其中一段小道上还有贝壳化石。来回总共10mi多点，2100ft爬升，trail的路况较好
，风景怡人。也可以选择只到 Saddle Peak 脚下的一个 overlook point，这样就只有
8mi/1500ft 爬升。
明天（周六）上午10点从 Old Topanga Rd 上的 trailhead 出发（9:45集合），总共需要约 7 小时
走完全程。Trailhead 可参考 localhikes （注意trail的数据不准确）：

Trailhead 在 Old Topanga Rd 上距 Topanga Canyon Blvd 约 0.4mi处，google map
上的坐标是 34.092905,-118.609024，街趴。那里路边有个“骑马”标志，还有 “
Backbone Trail”的牌子。

SR is fairly close to the level of Alpine, while USR is not yet there.
for SR, the bottle neck remains to be the busy 17 and 4 traffic. making its
access to NYC not as seamless as Alpine's.
for the same reason, given the commute condition and larger land parcel in
Franklin Lakes, more and more people either choose Alpine for short distance
to Manhattan, or FL for larger land, thus bypassing SR.
