好奇心起,于是就去做了一番 research(其实应该叫做 search,而非 research)。
Halloween (or 'All Hallows' Eve') All
Hallows' Day 的前夕。All Hallows' Day(亦称 All Saints' Day)是在每年的 11/1
基督教除了 All Hallows' Day 以外,还有个万灵节,All Souls' Day,是在万圣节的
Samhain

Halloween was a popular pagan festival of the dead (Samhain). The ancient
Celts celebrated the new year on November 1. They believed that the souls of
the dead returned to Earth the night before.
Samhain is Gaelic for “summer’s end,” a day to bid good-bye to warmth and
light as day length shortens.
In an attempt to replace this festival, the church moved the celebration of
All Saints to November 1. This is the day when all of the saints are honored
, especially those who did not have a day of th...

Samhain/Halloween almost always had ties to the "other world". Celtic tribes
often believed that elves or faery folk could emerge from their world on
Samhain more so than they could on many other days of the year, and that
they could cause both good luck and misfortune. Some were believed to help
the living in divining the future, and some were believed to steal away
children or cause a future death.

Celtic: The ancient Celtic (Irish, Scottish, Welsh) festival called
Samhain is considered by many to be a predecessor of our contemporary
Halloween. Samhain was the New Year's Day of the Celts, celebrated on 1
November. It was also a day of the dead, a time when it was believed
that the souls of those who had died during the year were allowed
access to the land of the dead. It was rel

Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday celebrated on
October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian
holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration but some have
expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.[1][2][3]
Origin of name
The term Halloween, originally spelled Hallowe’en, is shortened from All
Hallows' Even – e'en is a shortening
