临周末前说说correlation和regression吧. 很多教科书上都把这两个techniques放在
一起讨论,初学统计的人难免会觉得两者密不可分。其实两者的区别还是很明显的,服
从于不同的分析目的,很少有人对数据同时使用这两种方法。
先说说correlation。Correlation是用来检测两组continous的数据间有没有
association(另一种方法前文已提到,回顾一下)。比如年龄和脂肪含量,胳膊长和
腿长,它们之间有相关性,但没有明确的causality关系。难道说年龄是导致脂肪含量
增高的根本原因?我看缺乏锻炼吃得太多才更是原因。
测量相关性用的一个系数叫做correlation coefficient。标准的计算方法经常归功于
Pearson,所以很常见Pearson's r的提法。其范围介于-1到1间。正值为正相关,负值
为负相关,而接近于0的话则相关性不显著。通常将两组数据用scatter plot画出来能
看出端倪, 数据间的分布可能有一个underlying linear trend,而Pearson's r就是

I think dynamic/static light scattering is used for determination of the
structure factor for density fluctuation in phase transitions,
usually at the length scale of the wavelength of light.
X-ray scattering is used to determine the crystal lattice constants.
Neutron scattering could be used to determine the correlation functions of
deutrium, mostly used to characterize the conformation of a single chain,
what I know about SANS is it can be used to measure Rg.

You still need to know the structure of atoms to get accurate calculation.
For low angle scattering like SAXS or SANS, with SLD, you do not need detail
position of atoms. However, you still need to know the structure of
the different surface, for example, cylindle holes, etc., in order to
calculate the intensity with SLD.
For scattering technique, everything is about contrast.
Once you have a surface, there is scattering.
You need to know all the information of the surface which has contrast to

Secondary electrons means those electrons undergoing inelastic scattering with
the solid and lost the character energy. For Auger electrons or electrons
produced in photoemission process, the emitting energy is well defined if no
inelastic scattering happens. However, if they have some inelastic scattering
when travelling through the sample, the kinetic energy then is not well
defined and they become secondary electrons.

天气预报又变回来了。
T-storm的定义:
Isolated is fewer than Scattered
National Weather Service forecasters will forecast "isolated" thunderstorms
when we are pretty certain that storms are going to form, but we only expect
them to affect about 10% of the area. In other words, 90% of the area won't
get wet.
"Widely scattered thunderstorms" means 20% of the area will be affected.
"Scattered thunderstorms" means 30-50% of the area will be affected.

楼主确实犯了一些严重错误。
先简要介绍一下燃烧知识,碳氢化和物不完全燃烧产物包含千百种不同成分。不论是烧
甲烷为主的天然气,还是以C8H18为主的汽油,还是C12H26为主的柴油,产生的成分都
是一样的,不同的只是各个成分的浓度。如果是富油燃烧,很容易形成碳颗粒(soot)
。碳颗粒刚形成的precursor particle大小只有2-3纳米,分子量大致为2000-5000之间
,然后迅速通过表面反应形成20-40纳米大小的颗粒(期间dehydrogenation过程导致碳
原子和氢原子比例达到9:1左右,基本上成为吸收光线最有效的blackbody黑体),分子
量达到100万左右。在这个过程中碳颗粒之间通过碰撞agglomeration过程形成类似
fractal的aggregate,这种aggregate大小由具体燃油化学反应时间,包括氧化时间长
短决定,包含从几十个到几万个颗粒,由于是三维结构fractacal dimension 只有1.8
左右, 所以直径(radius of giration)从接近1微米到大于10微米都有。好的柴油机氧

唉,你这水平太烂了,不过虾蟹也太菜了,随便说,比如back scatter (机场的L3的
body scanner就是用back scatter), 小型X射线源太简单了,比如钴-60够用么? 不够
随便那个能量的都有。前线机场用的航空探伤,野外作业比如石油工业用x-ray用的大
都是同位素。
