TA, which is clearly stated as a contract.
You can TA only and fail all the courses and quit by the end of the
semester.
If you are not doing a TA but doing an RA, then it really depends on what
the fund provider expects. S/he has every right to hang up your payment and
even demand you to give back what you have already received. |

话多给一个月的工资。于是有个senior professor去年夏天就把这门课develop成了
online course （他在来我们学校前在其他学校教过这门课）。但这两年我都是fall &
spring semester在课堂里教，他夏天教online的，也相安无事。结果，刚才系主任问
我今年fall semester能不能教另外一门全新的课，因为这个senior professor想秋季
也教这门课的online version （也就是想多拿一个月工资），但学生数量有限，不可
能同时开online 和on ground的，所以系里可能就cancel我这门on ground的。
我当然不想答应教新课。因为我明年要评tenure，所以今年的teaching evaluation很
重要。以往我这门课的evaluation都是很不错的，开一门新课需要花大量时间备课不说
，还不知道学生到时候的evaluation怎么样。但是我不答应的话，又怕得罪这个senior

照说本科生得让发考题们认为极其有科研的潜质,才能打败无数硕士生,发考题们才
会直接给本科生offer直攻博士;
看这份简历,我的感觉是
1.本科成绩好,会读书
2.参加了很多国内老师的项目,参加了一些海外老师的暑期短期项目,有些学术锻炼和想
法,但无明显成果,可能人缘好,会来事;但不排除夸大自己作用的可能
3.得了一些奖学金,国内高校基本上成绩好加积极参加学校各项活动,对老师会来事,自
然就能得.
3.英语写的好
4.积极参加各种活动,精力充沛,勤奋,把自己的时间,安排的满满当当的,有废寝忘食的
倾向.
5.非常有计划性和目的性,经过几年奋斗,作为本科学生,已经达到面面聚到的无短板程
度.
作为本科生,这份简历无疑是优秀的;但是却无法直接得出极其有科研的潜质的结论;相
反无数硕士生申请攻博士,由于年龄大一些和工作经历,也许本科成绩绩点低一些,得的
奖学金项目少一些,但是有实践经验,多数还会有1-2篇海外(尽管可能级别和影响不高)

者一年的sabbatical，50%paid. 我知道其他学院有老师是一年的sabbatical，但我们
院之前都是take 1-semester sabbatical，没人take一年的，不知道是不是因为只给50
%工资的原因。
我想take 1-year leave，拿50%的工资。今天跟系主任说了，但系主任说我教的一门课
没有人能替我教，而且是本科生的一门必修课，每个学期都要开的，所以只能允许我
take 1 semester leave，我take leave的那个学期就暂时把这门课cancel掉，但是不
能答应我take 1 year leave。我提了几种方案，比如找研究生来教，但系主任说研究
生能教这门课的人很少，而且研究生是整个college一起安排，不一定能安排到我们系
上来。我又提出用我的另一半工资去hire一个lecturer，教一学期我那门课，但系主任
就是不答应，说一学期的lecturer不好找。

deadline for this semester. Not really a bad thing I guess, considering
I haven't even begun studying for job interviews.

school. Either CPT or OPT, I will lost my TA or RA job, which means I have
to pay the tuition by myself, further more, I can not get the TA or RA
salary from school anymore. Finally I negotiate with the company and they
agree me to fill the position from MAY. Because the money from the company
event can not pay my tuition.

That's also impossible. For most univ. CPT issurance happens in a semester
base and has strict length, duration starting/ending date requirements. So
it's hard for the OIS to give you a CPT at the middle of a semester, either
you miss the spring CPT application deadline or there's not enough week left
for it. |

到summer semester答辩。老板同意先上班再回来答辩，但是学校要求答辩的那个学期
还注册为full time student. OIA同意帮我把I20延长到summer semester，但说full
time student只能part time工作。公司估计不会让我part time工作，请问如果我保持
full time student的身份，仍然拿opt去full time工作，会有什么样的问题吗？
google了好一阵子都没找到相关规定，不知版上是否有遇到过类似情况的朋友？多谢！ |
