本书是姐妹篇。非常惊讶于这个土生土长于美国的人能把30-60年代的中国写得那么逼
真。
《Shanghai Girls》讲30年代一对上海的富家姐妹，本来在上海有富足的生活，却因为
父亲突然破产而被卖给了一个移民美国的广东人，这个人是来中国给他的儿子们买老婆
再带去美国的。故事一开始讲两姐妹在十里洋场的奢华生活，然后急转直下到上海的沦
陷，父亲失踪，两姐妹和母亲逃离上海，姐姐和母亲被日本宪兵强奸，母亲因此丧命。
写母亲离世时的细节非常令人动容。最后两姐妹走投无路，只好找出广东人留给她们的
船票，从香港出发去旧金山。书的后半部分就是讲两姐妹在洛杉矶中国城的生活，这一
部分的背景非常真实，因为作者就是在那儿长大的。
《Dreams of Joy》讲第二代的故事。姐姐的女儿（其实是妹妹的私生女）在大学参加
有共产主义色彩的小团体，又偶尔知道了自己的身世，执意回到了50年代上海帮助建设
新中国和寻找亲生父亲。

偏袒和纵容,却让版面和谐不起来.
如phoenixali所述,其在shanghai版已经把持版主之位长达三年,如此长的版主任期,版
务上不变的喜好和风格,已经使得版面小圈子逐渐形成.特别是,该版某些ID所成立的
BGWorld俱乐部,更是加重了小圈子现象.具体而言就是,版务组和某些ID特别熟悉,这些
人平时在club里尽情攻击和八卦其他ID,然后,小圈子里某些ID在shanghai版这个公开版
面也时而对一些圈外版友冷嘲热讽,乃至人身攻击,造谣颠倒是非.由于该版务组的人员
也是这个小圈子的人,所以对这些ID在该版的不良行为睁一只眼闭一只眼,并对圈外人士
打击报复.
这个现象在近几天的不和谐事件中表现得最为明显.大概3天前,kelly9988网友在上海版
贴了自己的pp并注明禁止转载,但是仍然随即被转到BGWorld,小圈子里的ID对其极尽挖
苦讽刺之能事.而后,小圈子某些ID(以suwen为首)还不罢休,将战火烧到shanghai版,在
上海版发表了许多造谣污蔑k网友的帖子.k网友看不过去了回击,却被某版 |

首因，投诉ID：kelly9988因怀疑在Shanghai版注明勿转载的帖子被转至bgworld俱乐部引发讨论（查证确实如此），这部分一来因为ID之间私事，二来发生于俱乐部，这里建议作者给站方写信处理，所以暂不追究；
事后因转帖ID（suwen）否认转帖而于Shanghai版面引起一系列的争端，虽然有所解释表示事出有因，但毕竟争端由此而起，因其后面有道歉，以普通ID的角度，所以也暂不追究；
但是作为版务：suwen & jlzhao1980，在事件发生后不及时调解矛盾反而参与其中激化矛盾，且整个过程中jlzhao1980多有PA语，这是作为版务绝对不允许的。
另，版务也存在处理不公现象，如果是PA，显然罚期应当一致，而非因ID不同分别对待（附例如后）；
最后，在版主封禁1天的情况下，仍以版务权限私自自我解封，有滥用版务权能之嫌，无法公平服众。
因此，此次事件中，Shanghai版版务处理很不合格，因版主phoenixali后来还能合理处事，此次不合格版副去留交由版主决定。
注：以上处理以事说事，无关老ID新马甲，也无关小圈子私人圈子。
