Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was established in 1944 to provide
habitat for migratory birds. Sand stretches for eight miles off the elbow of
Cape Cod, forming the barrier islands of North and South Monomoy. In
addition to the two islands, a 40-acre unit on Morris Island is also part of
the refuge. This is where the headquarters and visitor center are located.

其实Shorebird找食的时候都有很匆忙的感觉, Stilt还算慢的因为主要在封闭的水面活
动. 大部份赶潮汐的Shorebird估计是不得不快, 行动一慢就没得吃了.

刚好看到书上讲这个小鸟每年五月份在 Delaware Bay 过路，吃 horseshoe crab eggs
来补充脂肪，就被我借回家了

这是我所有21个景点中最喜欢的, mua! 当天是大阴天, 感觉还真有点象要下雨, 但就
一直没下(我都快不知道雨长啥样了). 听到了海狮的声音, 也闻到了他们的味道, 但
就不知道都在哪里笃定地玩, 5555.
其实我挺想抱一个海狮回家养着的.

沿Gulf of Mexico coast，从北到南的barrier island是重要的bird migration的休息
站。
开车要加油，鸟飞累了就得靠这些重要的栖息地来休息补给。每年春天无数地
neotropical brids穿过墨西哥湾飞到内陆，于是这些岛就是它们的重要栖息地。冬天
Texas又是很多鸟过冬的地方。
Texas共17个national wildlife refuge(NWR)。沿着Texas 的海岸线就有8个。这些地
方是观鸟的好地方，也是biking, fishing的好去处。有些NWR还可以看到鳄鱼，如果没
去过Florida看过鳄鱼的可以到这些地方看看，不过主要还是鸟类。
著名的濒临灭绝的whooping crane，就在aransas NWR，离corpus christi很近。
人说叶公好龙，我是叶公好鸟，刚刚开始学习，认得的还非常少，比认花之类的难多了。
首先就得买个好望远镜才能看清，然后还得有耐心找鸟，而且没等你看清就飞了。

发帖数: 6890 | 17 Least tern 属 shorebird，4月起就飞回来mating和孵育下一代。Least tern 多半时
候是蹲坐在海边的沙坑里休息，间中一群一群地飞到水中嬉戏和捕小鱼。此次专贴鸟儿
在水中戏水的部分。
1. 天太热，原本在海滩上蹲坑的 least tern们时不时飞到水中
2.戏水，海水在轻轻地涌
3.头埋入水中
4.水中优闲
5.翅膀激起阵阵水花
6. 撅起尾巴
7.再玩会水
8.离开水面一刹那
9.起飞，那瞬间尾巴还贴着水面
10.翅膀扇啊扇，身子终于起来了

大多数飞鸟是在Bolivar轮渡上拍的，呵呵。
高地我只在春季迁移时跟团去过两次，时间很仓促。现在估计只有那个Rookery还有些
鸟妈鸟娃，不过，等到八月估计都大了飞了。
Bolivar半岛东北端的Rollover Pass也不错。
高地西边的Anahuac NWR (UTC 049)也很好，慢慢开车绕着Shoveler Pond走能看到很多
水鸟的。 |
