我于初二时写过《书店》，发表在江苏《少年文艺》1997年第9期上。念于当时是夜间
而作，睡意袭来，匆匆收笔。如今复看，写得不是甚爽，结尾尤为仓促，与正文有一断
为二的怪异感。事隔两年，书店变化很大，故补作一文。
世纪末的最后几年，书店越来越开放。记得以前买书只能远远观望，书则安然躺在柜橱
里，只能看着名猜内容。最要命的是书价被压在下面，侧身窥视，仍不知价目。不论身
心，都极为痛苦，更不好意思惊动售货员。一旦惊动，碍于面子，不买不行，于是佯装
草读一遍，心里暗叫：不要太贵！切莫太贵！偏偏这书看上去薄薄一册，一拿到手里感
觉不妙，竟不知怎么增肥不少。西方哲人说不可相信第一眼的爱情，买书亦是如此。然
后愈翻心愈往下掉，最后眼一闭，嘴角肌肉一抽，狠把书翻个身扫其身价，两眼一瞪，
不自主地咽下去一口口水，想万幸万幸，贵得不算离谱，尚可承担。如今不同，如今大
可先看书价再看书，但难免惹来某些爱书贼子。

最近，美国费城一对夫妇（Herbert and Catherine Schaible）被控三级谋杀。被害者
是这对夫妇七个月大的婴儿。这对夫妇被控谋杀的原因是：他们的婴儿生病了，他们不
是带婴儿去看医生，而是“祷告”，希望他们那个不存在的主子能治好儿子的病。结果
，一个来到人世间才七个月的稚嫩的生命就这样离世了。更加令人愤怒的是，2009年的
时候，这对夫妇另一个当时才两岁的儿子生病了，同样是因为他们愚蠢的“信仰”，这
对夫妇拒绝带生病的儿子去看医生，他们只是“祷告”，结果自然是孩子的死亡。检方
认为这两个孩子的病原本都是可以治好的。
