《邓小平时代》一书英文原著于2011年在哈佛大学出版社出版，2012年香港中文大学出
版社出版了未经删节的中文版，译者为冯克利。港版全书约58万字，其中注释6.1万字
。三联书店的大陆版仍采用了冯克利的译本，但对内容进行了删节。
大陆版正文较港版删节约5.3万字，其中包括“邓小平时代的关键人物”（Key People

革命，断断续续基本上没有消停过。爱国的人爱到为他死，卖国的人卖到只嫌慢，这些
歇斯底里的两极化就是这样的不成熟的国家的典型特征。当然这些并不简单归结于民族
性所能解释的，更合理的解释是常年的战争、革命，导致社会各个群体的割裂。人与人
信任感的低下，一旦面对新的危机自然会作出带有情绪化的选择。尽管欧美国家从来没
有真正看得起过中国这样的国家，但是本人认为
谈到国家层面的联盟还是应该慎重，尤其俄罗斯这样一个极端自负又自卑的民族，太多
的不确定性。当然我这里不是建议中国应该倒向所谓的以美国为代表的所谓普世价值的
阵营。中国真正该做的是弥合社会的割裂，以开放，宽容的心态面对自己，面对历史，
面对这个世界，作为一个有几千年文化的民族，所谓文化自信一切都会自然的到来的。

官员，他们访问中国的时机，不是很好，面对西方的威胁和制裁，他们怎么能高兴起来
呢？他们也许没有认识到这中俄合作的深远意义，或者对中俄友好合作还有疑虑，不知
道这合作能否走多远。
而我国官员，也许肤浅，也许太乐观了，也许认为俄来中国，自己占有利时机而高兴。
应该有点情商，体会一下对方的心情和想法。
不管怎么样，我认为中俄友好，会是持久的，是有足够基础和内在动力，外在推力，和
友好粘合力的。是值得乐观的。
中华文明，讲仁义道德，其实社会主义里，很多部分是与这仁义道德相同的。西方的民
主公平人权，其实也是与中华文明有很大共同点的。所以中华文明，是完全可以世界正
义力量联合起来的。
