我们系反正silvaco TCAD和SEN ISE都有
而且竟然有windows版本的
方便了我这种只会windows的人
似乎ISE好一些
Silvaco的参数要自己生成
这就有一个parameters extraction的问题了 |

软件是可以做HEMT模拟的。不过，这个软件很贵啊，似乎一年就得4000块？不会有教授

InGaP/GaAs结构的band diagram模拟出来尽然是type-II的junction，算p-n节的
depletion width也差老鼻子了，跟手动套公式算的差太多
另外meshing也很tricky，动不动就不converge。写信给silvaco公司的人，把结构发给
他们，让他们算。今天收到回信，用附件的script跑了一遍，current算出来比实际情
况高了1e5倍，太不靠谱了。band diagram问题还是没结局。 |

that saves hell lot of time
for the device simulation, in some cases, you can also use 1-D simulation...
2-D is for advanced device..
and 3-D is for producing wastes in journals and conferences....

I talked with some guy, one of the fathers of Silvaco. He said he never
trusted Silvaco...although he earned a lot of money from it...
And I spent most of my day time in past two months to tease with silvaco and
synopsys application |

silvaco那东西。。。
要calibrate model的，没有data base,你没办法calibrate model和constant,基本就
是扯淡
曾经和最初做tcad,创办silvaco,发了一大笔才的老头吃饭聊天
老头说他从来不信silvaco.

for the former one,any mathmatical package is cool enough
Matlab, maple, mathcad what ever pieces of shit you could think out
try this book: Modelling Photovoltaic Systems using Pspice by Dr. Luis
Castaner and Dr. Santiago Silvestre....
if device simulation on PN+ QD,man, try dessis or silvaco
it is a big deal in simulation....

s group in UF, his group developed core code of floops, which is the
industry standard process simulator. Their free package includes both floops

其他的，非常取决于使用者的水平了

Silvaco or self-coding (by Matlab or C)?
I rarely see any PV company (from AMAT,Boeing Spectralab,spire to tiny
start-ups) get opennings for modeling engineers....
seems this start-up getz tons of cash to burn....this is the only reason
that make sense on hiring modeling engineer....
usually, process development or R&D engineers do modeling by themselves...
becasue companies use commerical modeling packages....no need self-coding or
trouble shooting
And it is Dr.M.A.Green not M.A.Gree |

他的学生在 arizona，带的学生2008年 冬天2009年初最不好找工作的时候也找到工作
了

还有UCSB的 GaN group，Caltech Atwater做solar cell的group是不是算牛program
我觉得算。。。
我不知道我所描述的这些和fancy idea有什么冲突
fancy idea难道不要matlab or C 去model, 用silvaco去跑device architecture,做
prototype以后DOE ramp up performance?
做fancy idea的人simulation tool都用的熟的很把。。。
还有要说fancy idea,industry的r&d，比如过去的bell, xerox prac,现在还存在的t.j.watson, dupont experimental station,不搞fancy idea?而且他们不仅有能去去yy,更比学校有资源去尝试 |
