of the email address.
Solution:
1. Specify an external SMTP server.
2. Try to send emails to hotmail, yahoo.com,...,etc. Usually, Local SMTP will
not have such problem.
3. Check your SMTP setup, usually there's a configuration called "delivery" or
something like "Forwarding" (I can not remember), which will allow your SMTP
to forward to a more powerful SMTP server if it can not solve the address.

问题是这个mail怎么知道mitbbs.com的smtp是多少的呢？不错，有些server的smtp就是
简单的前缀：smtp.mitbbs.com，但是很多server并不是这样的，比如说smtp.special.

queue mail. 你的 ISP 不提供 smtp server 么？gmail 的 smtp
server 可以么？
你自己跑 smtp server 问题是很多 server 不接受私人网段 smtp server,

Yahoo邮箱POP3设置方法（真的有效）
虽然使用Foxmail也可以收取Yahoo邮箱的信件，但是那毕竟是HTML转发速度和稳定性
上都不及真正的POP3收取。其实Yahoo的免费邮箱也是可以使用POP来收取信件的:
1. 在IE地址栏中直接输人
http://edit.my.yahoo.com/config/set_popfwd?.src=ym，进人到YAHOO！“网上直投”
的页面。
2. 在注册一项中选择“是”，然后选择你感兴趣的内容，其它的选项可以根据需要来
选择，然后按"完成"按钮。
3. 选择“网上阅读邮件和POP功能”，其它选项可根据自己的需要选择，完成后按
“提交”按钮。
4. 此时“网上直投”注册成功，系统会告诉你的“服务器设置”：
接收邮件(POP3)服务器：POP.MAIL.YAHOO.COM.CN
发送邮件(SMTP)服务器：SMTP.MAIL.YAHOO.COM.CN
注意：虽然每个雅虎信箱用户的POP和SMTP的地址都是相同的，但是用户如果不按上面
的方法进行“网上直投”注册，仍然无法用POP和SMTP方式收发邮件的！

use it from anywhere ( my ISP's require the sender to be their own IP,
while school smtp refuses to send to sohu.com )
now I can connect it from school, it sends ok,
but if I connect to it from home, it just doesn't respond,
I tcpdumped, and the smtp server receives no request at all!!!
are the packets dropped by my ISP???? mine is SBC dsl
but it shouldn't be : I could use ISP's smtp from home .....

1. Right now you will have to use the ip address
218.22.21.7
for both your pop and smtp server. In a few days (possibly tomorrow) you
should be able to use domain name mail.ustc.edu directly.
2. Use your login name for pop access. In other words, do NOT use
ustc.edu:your_login_name as in the old system.

different.
A lot of people's home machine get hacked and used as
botnet to send spams. So lot of email server, gmail
included, refuse to talk to sender from those IP address
directly. e.g. I am using comcast, I suppose to use the
comcast smtp to relay the email instead of running my
own on the IP I got from comcast. Gmail will not delay
my email if it is relay to comcast SMTP server.

My understanding is that Apache SOAP is a dead project (at least not very
active) and has been replaced by Axis - By the way, the links there to IBM's
SMTP and POP3 bean suites won't work any more, and nowhere to download those
jars.
Actually I am specifically looking for SOAP over SMTP impl/config examples for
Axis1.x - google did not give me ANY useful info.
