当初我家决定开辟菜圃就是为了吃到有机蔬菜，所以一直坚决不用农药等化学品。这里给
大家分享一点体会：
一 开荒：
我家所在地的土是红粘土，根本不能直接种植物， 所以买了很多soil conditioner &
composted chicken and cow manure和腐植土拌在一起使土质疏松肥沃，再将top soil铺
在表面上。这地就算好了。
二 育苗：
买一包potting mixer soil，买质量好的，疏松的，这很重要。可能贵一点，但给种子一
个良好的开端，值。将potting mixer soil放进杯子大小的花盆中（底部沥水），每盆下
3-4粒种子。长出苗茬后留下最好的去掉次等的。我家菜圃后是一片树林，很容易滋生虫
害，而幼苗很怕虫害，我们就把它们放在前院。
三 移栽
等幼苗长到2-3 英寸高再移栽 |

for healthy lawn growth. If needed, soil pH should be determined first.
打洞, i think, means core aeration, which requires an equipment to pull
small plugs of soil from your lawn. This way, oxygen can better reach the

这个 2,3 真的应该对调。top soil/compose 不要超过 1/4 inch。
然后用 rake 轻轻拖一下。
这个有top soil 就不用了。小心出 wheat 的芽够你操心的。
最好分成早上，中午浇，分几次，每次一点点。
不需要。但是你缺乏最重要的一步，就是 1 之后要清理场地。
不然杂草和你的草一起发芽，你种出来也是白种。
思路就是浇水，发芽，roundup， 循环。搞几次把杂草能发的芽
都发掉。不然混在一起发芽恶心死你，很随便几千颗杂草拔都拔
不完的。
还有 soil test. 不 soil test 1 以后要有 starter fertilizer.
不要撒种的时候一起撒，容易烧。
草种强烈建议不要去 HD 买，去专业 store 买 sod quality 的种子。
1% 的 weed 翻译一下就是种出来几千颗 weed. 自己想想吧。 |

I did it with and without top dressing before. It has both pros
and cons.
Pros:
- Easy, not need to buy top soil.
- No contamination like weeds from the soil/hay.
Cons:
- Seeds are easy to move/float. If you have water form puddle, the
seeds will gather on the puddle.
- Birds pick it up easier.
- Seeds get roots into the soil slower. You need much more careful
on the watering. Can't cut off water as early as top dress. Too
much water will move the seed.

老美比较精英的种草爱好者在 bestlawn.
提这个方案的人自己这么干过还是就是觉得这么干可以的？
这个方案有几个问题。
第一， soil solarization 要看区和天气。太冷的区不行。天气不够热，
没有暴晒的太阳不行，塑料布边界要埋进土里，透气不行。一般人
其实要严格执行下来工作量比 round up 要多多了，效果还往往
不如 round up.
第二， soil solarization 要用透明的塑料布，不是黑垃圾袋。
黑垃圾袋的问题是本身吸收很多热，下面的土壤并不够热。
透明塑料布是让下面的土壤热。

第三，你去别人那里挖来的 top soil，就算没有毒药，化学元素
平衡，几乎肯定是含有杂草种子的。直接 seed 还是绕不过里面杂
草种子抢先发芽和好草竞争的问题。
基本上，这种方案真正执行下来还是不如用 round up 清除土里
的杂草的方案。
BTW，seed 草要成功执行下来，是要花挺多时间精力的。

你把条件说好我来给你绝对的证据。
我在大规模种我的草坪之前各种方式我都做过实验观察发芽情况。
只要保持湿润，不铺 top soil 完全没有问题。用 roller 那个是给
sod 用的，对 seed 没有什么用。有个危险是， roller 转弯的时候
会刮地面，有相对摩擦而不是滚动摩擦，因为内半径和外半径长长度
不一样。这个刮地会把原来铺均匀的种子刮走而导致刮地的地方种子
少，有 bare spot. 当然这些实战经验如果你没有实际用过 lawn roller
是不能想象出来的。
如果是大规模 seed 的话，铺那个 top soil 几乎就是不现实的，而且
大大增加其他出错的风险。好在铺 top soil 是完全不必要的。 |

日子过得飞快啊，眼看冬天就要过去了，该为新的一年春耕做准备啦。 去年收获的种
子，有的失败了，比如莴笋，收获甚微，也有的收获颇丰，不知大家有没有需要的。
----蔬菜种子----：
每份种子价格2刀，可以分享的种子包括：
1 免邮费类：雪里红，北京圆茄子，荠菜，割茬茴香，韭菜，冬瓜，苋菜，中国
芹菜。 还有少量莴笋籽富裕，不知还有没需要的同学。
2 需要加3.5刀（邮局又涨价啦，信封类的 package要3.50 啦）邮费类： 白长豇
豆，架豆， 黄色小糯玉米，花糯玉米。

The best way to turn a piece of lawn into a vege garden, IMHO, is not to use
a tiller to do the hard labor work.
Instead, you build a raised bed on top of it directly.
First, you lay cardboards or grocery paper bags on top of the grass.
Then, you cover them with top soil or garden soil. Make sure your top soil
is thick enough for your raised bed. The buried grass will die soon due to

草的地。最开始把地挖松了（看到蚯蚓的帖子，我发现这个地里一条都没有），土块敲
碎了，晒了几天，浇透水，铺了两袋买的garden soil，过了几天又松了一遍，把
garden soil跟原来的土混匀了。
过了2,3周的样子，这期间版上MM给我邮寄的韭菜种子也一直育着，重复了一遍第一段
里的过程，又混了两袋garden soil。然后在一头栽了4棵home depot买的茄子苗。过了
一周，又栽了两棵西红柿。
等韭菜苗的两片叶子长的比较长了，又把地的另一头松了松，混了些garden soil，上
上周末就移栽了韭菜苗，一共有20棵，并且每颗都有好多根韭菜苗，今天看发现长出了
新的叶子，应该是活了吧。
地还有些剩余，上周末又去home depot买了两棵角瓜（西葫芦）苗种下了。
我老公想种黄瓜，也没种子，也没苗买，所以就没办法了。
自己种菜还是第一次，一点经验都没有，就小时候看老妈种过。目前我是每天傍晚浇一
次水，另外听说西红柿还要搭架子，授粉，希望版上的达人们多多传授经验，谢谢先啦。 |

面可能重金属超标，应该买Garden Soil，最好是Organic Garden Soil，他还将信将疑
，不知道最后收获的西红柿是不是都吃了还是送人了
