First, I installed Solaris8.0 and WindowsXP on it and they work pretty good.
Now, I change ONLY the hard disk to a new 40GB one and re-install Solaris8.0
and WindowsXP. The first 4GB of the hard disk is given to Solaris, and the
rest is given to XP. XP is installed without problems and works find. However,
Solaris always says "there is no room in the disk, you need to delete a
partition before creating a new partition for Solaris." But there IS 4GB
unused |

Manager (in MBR)来选择启动菜单,进入又可以用win2K(boot.ini) or Linux’s lilo的
菜单再选择,前几天重新安装了win2000,一不小心冲掉了MBR, 其它系统都可以重新配置进
入,但是从此失去了进入Solaris入口,只能用光盘启动进入.不知道哪个高手能够指点一下
,如何恢复Solaris的MBR, 或者说重新把Solaris的Boot Manager安装到MBR?

solaris8 dual boot at my laptop.
network is working (i am sending for solarix right now), could read chinese
(don't know how to write yet), everything goes fine
so if anyone else interested in install both systmem, let me know so I could

在彻底晕掉之前，先做一下读书笔记：
1。 Cluster是通称，事实上包括 cluster 和 grid两种。
-- cluster 是指各个node所用的硬件平台, 操作系统比较一致的情况下，当然也不
是说必须完全一致。例如sun cluster on Solaris, 可以有些机器用solaris8, 有些
solaris 9, 有些用 solaris10。 但是不可以有些用solaris, 有些用linux.
各个node之间的联系都很紧密，除了普通的网络连接之外，通常node之间都有高速光纤互
联。
-- grid相对来讲就非常开放，可以由不同类型的机器和操作系统组成, 扩展性也非
常好，但是连接比较松散，各个节点之间有时候就只是普通的网络连接。好像汉语翻译为 |

有若干问题，还望大虾出手：
(1)创建用户以后，好像一些基本命令用不了，比如make。用FIND可以找到MAKE，
用完整的目录名可以用，象/USR/。。。/MAKE，
有什么东西象DOS下的PATH要设的吗？怎么设？
(2)ROOT装完OFFICE52后，FRONT PANEL多了一个文件架。但是创建用户后，用用户
登陆，就没有那个文件架？ROOT怎么样能装软件让所有用户都能用？
用户怎么做才能和ROOT看到的那个文件加一样？
(3)NETSCAPE里的字体怎么才能弄大点？我设了FONTS，18，还是很小。还有什么字体
比较好看？英文的
(4)SUN SOLRIS 8 MEDIA PACKAGE里面的光盘里哪张有中文字体？

anybody knows what is the counter function of "getch()" in unix C?
getchar() works both in dos and in unix, but you have to RETURN after
input a character (which I don't like). There're some other functions,
like kbhit(), bioskey(), but they're all DOS version and can't be used
in Unix.
anybody give me some hints? 3x a lot.

I'm using cc under Solaris8 (?). |

10M 左右，我用fdisk at linux把这个区设成active就好了。 |

And my keyboard turns hot at that time. I shutdown the computer immediately.
Maybe you can try freeBSD. What I found difficulty in install FreeBSD is in
Desktop X setting. Maybe some one can solve it, google to find it.
Actually, I tried many in my laptop, such as Turbo Linux, FreeBSD, Debian,
Slackware. I find I am still more comfortable with my first Redhat.keke... |

一台PC和一台Solaris接在router上. 用DHCP. PC work正常.
Solaris 可以得到IP address, 从PC可以telnet到Solaris上.
但是Solaris不能resolve domain name. 比如ping bbs.mit.edu 不行, 但是
直接ping ip 可以. solaris自己的hostname是unknown.
怎么办? 我试着在/etc/resolv.conf 里嫁了两个DNS server的IP, 然后reboot
但是没有用. 试着在/etc/hosts里嫁了一个hostname, 但是机器reboot后又被
改回unknown.
是solaris8

not for PC or other different-CPU based machine. so i don't think
you can install Windows and Solaris on one machine.

There is solaris for intel CPU .
Just create two primary partitions and put win98 and solaris on different
partitions. The installation is easy, do it step by step according to the
installation guide. |
