My former postdoc advisor served on the search committee last year. He told
me it was really hard for the committee to distinguish excellence among
excellence. >80% of the applicants passing the 1st round screening has at
least 1 first author science/cell/nature paper, > 35% has more than one.

applied to the position and some of them did become the NIH intramural
investigators.

空手套白狼的。。具体就是一堆人写application，但是你不知道你将在何处，所以纯
属自由发挥。完了交上来评委一看，这个proposal不错，筛选一批不错的人来NIH讲讲
，好了，再给个排名。最后能有个多少个名额呢，不知道！会到哪个所呢，不知道！好
处是一旦NIH任何所有opening，会优先考虑从这些入选者里面招聘。俺的赶脚就是即使
选到了也在一个waiting list里面，前途未知。当然咯，可以当作一次锻炼嘛 |

1. 想在NIH作特别大，不容易。但也有不少2-30人的大组，这样的组，一年的经费（
DC+IDC）一般4，5百万，3-4人的组，一年应该也有好几十万
2.开始的PI 和一般PI工资是不错的，对做的特别大的PI 工资是有CAP的，向1里提到的
大组，PI也就20万出头，一样水平的在医学院可能会高很多
3，薄厚工资比学校是比较高的，现在应该起薪有5万多。博后想学写PROPOSAL比较难
4，PI每年花 1-2小时在经费申请上，
5. PI有混的，不少是做的挺努力的，知道几个70多的，每周上6天，有的5，60了还亲
自做试验
6. BETHESDA大概是美国最安全的地方之一
7，繁文缛节多，
