So decided to connect two computers(1st floor PC and 2nd floor living-room
HTPC) with Ethernet. Initially I want to do it behind drywall, after some
investigation, decided that it's too hard for a novice like me, so gave up :)
Finally just took the easy approach, run the Cat 5e cable along the wall and
stairs, not too bad after all. You can buy those 'cable staple' in Home
Depot, but I only found staples for RG6(Cable TV cable) cables, |

Model 1:
3300sqft, 进门以后有门厅 with vaulted ceiling with stairs going upstairs
Model 2:
2900sqft, 进门以后没有门厅，直接就是living-dining-family rooms and kitchen all
with vaulted ceiling. 这样二楼损失不少面积。
进门以后没有门厅重要么? 外面看起来，是不是model 2 更好看一点?
Model 2 is 15K cheaper. |

实木木地板， 做过OAK， MAPLE 和 巴西樱桃木。
OAK， 价格比较便宜， 也比较常见， 属于硬木。一般价格在3-4$。我们在HOME DEPOT
买过BRUCE的， 质量很好。HOME DEPOT偶尔会有SALE。我们还在HOME DEPOT订购过专门铺楼梯的STAIR NOSE， 质量也不错。OAK有很多种颜色， 我朋友选了很浅的，我们去了她家几次没仔细看都以为是MAPLE。OAK的缺点之一是有比较大的花纹。
MAPLE， 没有大面积买过所以在价格上没有研究， 我们买的MAPLE6$(SELECT GRADE)，
MAPLE没有OAK的花纹， 看上去比较干净。MAPLE也有很多颜色， 比较流行浅的。我个
人的感觉如果你想扩大房间的空间面积是一个理想的选择， 另外在热带会给人清静的
感觉。MAPLE看上去干净明亮， 适合现代风格。
CHERRY， 只用过巴西木， 选的是天然色，只有CLEAR COAT， 会变色， 最开始时发黄
， 慢慢地变红(一年左右)， CHERRY整个的木块从侧面看都应该是红 |

than 300 sqft, it counts as two room. One Walk-in closet is $15 each, small
closet $5 each, one stair counts as one area, so is Hallway.. So my total is
about $220 for a cleaning.
Then I made a few calls to local guys and found better deals. so maybe try
local shop? |

昨天找房,看到一个比较满意的地方,位置的在一排的尽头(up-stair),绕房子走了一圈
发现紧挨着的侧面有一个大约2,3平米的小屋子,顶上竖一个碗口粗的小铁烟囱,小烟囱
时不时冒点气,冒气的时候有点噪音.请问这个设备是干什么的?我二楼一个卧室的窗离
烟囱不远,不知道晚上会不会吵. |

the early morning or middle of the day depends on when I want and their
availability, apply salt to melt snow/ice. I have a large lot, they can
finish within 5-10mins.
but I need take care my own walk way that is about 10ft and includes 4
stairs. a decent shovel will do a good job. mine costs me near $50/piece. it
is metal and very handy. |

我在南加，2100sq ft的房子，一般中国contractor报价都是$1800-1900.最后找了一个
越南painter，$1000. no closet or door，同一房间都是一种颜色。只是touch up
trims, stair railings and ceiling. . Flat paint for all rooms, semi gloss
for kitchen and bath rooms, 5 colors total, about about 12 gal total. since
the original color is white, so no base needed. |

Looks like you only have one circulating pump, so each zone is controled by
a valve in the pipes.
If you have two thermostat, switch them to make sure the fault is not the
thermostat.
If your thermostat is working, the valve control the upstair zone is stuck
shut. ( if you turn off downstair - just turn down the temp setting, and
only turn on upstairs, you should see the boiler working and pump running,

然后就房子本身来说， 我觉得A,B 上的差别不是无法忍受的差别。
1。 living room 里面的优势是 bay window. 我觉得这个好说。A也后也是可以
upgrade的，还比较容易。如果就这样，以后resell也不回因为这个不好卖。
2。就是dinning area的。B的优势是open stair,这个会给人的感觉不一样，因为房子
就会看上去宽敞，和高挑。 这个是个比较大的优势。所以如果买A要把这块需要装修下
，墙面那个墙纸什么的去掉，弄成clean 的颜色，会改善很多
3。其他的我觉没有什么太大差别，就是decoration的问题。你自己多花点心思装饰下
，也不差。A的原房主主要搞得太noisy的感觉，碎花什么的。
但是A的高中确实灭有通过装饰就能改善的。这个是硬伤。 我选a |

for flooring, it's very hard to tell good/bad job from the time u finished,
chinese contractors tend to cheat. american contractors with years of
experience are good. ie, just ask them how they will install stairs,

any safer for a two level house. Don't you know most
houses are just one 1/2 inch plywood and 1/2 inch drywall
separating outside and inside? You can put iron bars on
all your windows and someone can come in through the walls
without much effort or noise. Once inside, a few steps
up the stairs is nothing.
Get a barking dog, it's a much better deterrent. |

quality is very good, quiet and smooth, I use it to move heavy stuff more
often than just people.
