学界情况。
地点是BioX的报告厅。内容讲的挺好。
本人平时乃老潜水员，没时间发帖，刚刚看到有人介绍不符合事实，应该纠正。
饶毅展示了两张照片，说他是Stanford的家属，二十多年前在Stanford宿舍住过，他不
是代表中国或者北大来招聘，而是作为过来人，给大家介绍情况。
他开始就说明，回国不回国，是你们个人决定，他不是来招聘。来访湾区时，Stanford
的中国学生要他来讲，他愿意和大家交流信息。到最后结束时，他还重申了不是招聘这
句话。
他比较了198几年的美国和中国，2010年的美国和中国，从衣食住行，到科研单位条件
、要求。说明二十多年前中美巨大差距，2010年中国条件改善了许多。
中国那时政治不稳定，学生和政府冲突，海外学生都同情国内学生。
中国大陆经济还不如台湾，赵紫阳回忆录上说他求教台湾商人，怎么台湾有那么多外汇
储备。现在中国外汇变成过多，那时没人想到。他们那时从美国打电话到国内要拨一天
才拨通，现在中国的手机信号比美国强，比美国多。

以及清华前老板，还需要一个人的推荐信。我可以找到两份，一个是Stanford给我们基
金的funding committee chair，不过据我之前通过机会侧面了解他给我写推荐信可能
并不太强力，就是一般般的positive， 而我还认识一个清华老教授，跟我关系挺好的
，他可能会让我draft一封他强力推荐信，不过不知道他的地位和影响力怎么样（当然
作为组里六七个人的正教授他也是发过不少文章但是不是什么出名的人）。
请问大家，如果在这两个里面选一个，哪种推荐人对申请美国faculty位置更有利呢？
别的老师，没跟我共事过的，是肯定不能作为推荐人吧？还有就是比我年龄小同学，现
在国内985大学拿到副教授，这种人给写推荐信合适么？ |

近租房超级贵，Standford校内就更不知道住房情况得如何艰难了。不管怎样头大吧，
因为她父母都在国内，所以现在找房子的光荣问题就自然而然地交到我这当姨的身上了。
想问一下这里有没有熟悉在Stanford U校内（校外也可以）找temporary housing情况
