fat tails.而在n>=30的时候，t分布和z分布几乎趋同。
对于普通的regression，我们可以证明它的coefficient estimate
是屈从于t（df＝n-number of coefficients)分布的。因此，你用
reg y x 的时候看到的是t－statistic。
但我不清楚probit regression coefficient estimate背后的分布
理论。如果它可以被证明是屈从于z分布的，那么stata自然就会给出
z－statistic而非t－statistic了。可以去统计版找专业人士求证一下。

After read all those posts, it seems that few people here really know SAS and
Splus, especially SAS. "Splus vs SAS 就象 Matlab vs Excel" is so wrong.
For statistical application, both SAS and Splus are easy to use. If you wanna
use statistical methods, like linear regression, it's same easy for both of
them. Just run the procedure or function, they both have good statisic package
for all the classic and modern statistical methods. The only thing matters |

considered low."
In statistics, though, an impact factor of 2 would be great (JASA and JRSS
are between 1 and 2, Biometrics and Biometrika are around 1). Among the top
stat journals are Statistics in Medicine (1.4) and Statistical Methods in
Medical Research (1.9), which are considered OK but not top stat journals.
You gotta reach those doctors (or the computer scientists and physicists;
they cite each other a lot). |

survival, 以及statistical genetics等等. 当然有些bioinformatics也纳入
biostatistics的范畴,但bioinformatics顶多算跟biostat有交叉,不能算传统的
biostatistics. biostat的training跟bioinfo的focus不一样.要细分,这几大支还能分
出很多小支来,比如statistical genetics,可以做gene mapping/genetic association
study, evolutionary genetics, population genetics, genetic epidemiology, 动
植物breeding等. 而在industry,生统最常见的是做clinical trials, 而statistical

likelihood principle and some other principles really make sense. But in
frequentist inference, these principle doesn't hold. Also, Bayesian is not
only MCMC and there are many things in Bayesian statistics. Personally I

of finding a sufficient statistic is "to shrink the sample X without losing
information." Thus, likelihood function is pretty much useless in this

不過如果要準備博士班資格考 這本書很有用
Peter Bickel是經典用書 我讀過 但不是很喜歡
如果我來推薦研究所statistical inference的書 簡單一點的就是Casella 還有一本
silvey的statistical inference(一本小書 但有很多有意思的觀念)
進階一點的可以考慮Lehman的testing hypothesis 和 Estimation theory
Cox and Hinkley的Theoretical Statistics也是一本經典 現在很多人不太用了 但還
是可以參考一下
