就有多个offer了。
最近新出来一个房子，价格合理，位置不错，看过了户型结构也满意。只是看到zillow
上咋个房子上半年卖过一次，然后又撤了，过了四个月才又出来卖。让agent帮忙查一
下背景。
Agent动作很快。原来上次有过offer,结果inspection 发现structural的问题，就撤了
。房主这几个月把上次查出的问题进行了structural repair,并由同一个inspector出
具了一个报告，说明上次的问题已经解决，所以又可以上市了。我们自己看不出问题，

发帖数: 349 | 10 三年前我听了reduced form方面的顶尖人物david card的一个讲座，他当时就说要认真
对待structural的东西，据我在berkeley做博士后的同学讲，他们也开始做一些
structural的东西。和我同一届的两个同学做labor都很好，但是做structural的就进
了top 30，做reduced form的上了两次市场后去了欧洲，辗转才回到北美。从就业市场
的角度讲，做applied micro+reduced form econometrics确实很多。
还有一个朋友在top5的商学院，他说在operation research方面structural的东西现在
开始得到很多关注。
在宏观方面，structural econometrics的东西还是经常能看到的的，只不过在应用中
存在很多问题。
至于heckman，他一直强烈反对过度依赖IV一类的reduced form方法，强调经济学模型
的作用。Victor Aguirregabiria的那篇Econometrica就是被支持structural
econometrics的大牛邀请去发表的。

Structured notes可以设计的很复杂，很tricky，很危险，可以是有downside
leverage,在市场下跌的时候有加速的亏损，也有link to CMS甚至proprietary index
(比如摩根大通的efficiente指数）这些非常不透明的指数的。（btw, CMS stands for
constant maturity swap, 如果你不明白这是什么，最好不要碰和CMS相关的产品）
可是，structured notes也可以设计得很稳妥，比如有很大的downside protection，
比较常见的是５年期只要SPX不跌５０％就还本。SPX 5year rolling period return
过去几十年有没有跌过５０％？最多一次跌多少，有没有人计算过呢？很多money
manager算过，所以他们自己也买了structured notes.

担心那些。
Buyer agent 和seller agent 认识，buyer agent 一直站在seller 立场说话，前两天
经常说的一句话是“seller 不高兴了，不要得罪seller agent”。我们说要walk away
之后收敛。
昨天buyer agent 打来电话，问我们找的structural engineer叫什么名字，告之，又
问电话，我们问要电话做什么，才说是seller想知道，我们说不应该告诉seller

我知道 Structural Engineer(SE) 是不一样。
就跟他解释说这是公司给我的 position, 也就是干结构的工程师，没那个意思。
太被"打击"了，一定要发奋图强奋斗好几年，把这个 "Structural Engineer" 的title
搞定。
其他行业， Aerospace, Mechanical, 汽车都有叫 Structural Engineer 的。
今天才知道， 这个 Structural Engineer 在土木是被占用了。 像香港他们叫做

，发现他们对 structural model的理解还挺深刻的。
最近看了Heckman和Vytlacil写的计量手册上一章，发现treatment文献就是一个从非
structural向structural在不断变化。经济学模型和统计模型计量方法结合，可能是一
个长期趋势。做得好的 structural模型，可以非常漂亮，解决的实际问题也不是简单
回归能处理的（见HV2008）。问题只是，大家经常不知道该如何怎样（正确的）去做。
把经济模型，计量方法，和实际问题结合在一起是个挑战。
一个很重要的问题是，自己是否适合做structural model。 我觉得，这个structural
model重视经济模型，计量方法，所以institutional方面的做的如果不好的话也还好说，数据
不好也还好说。但那些简单回归的领域，貌似对institutional 背景知识的要求高一些。 |

请教一个Python问题， 怎么读出一个data structure中的全部members(内容) ?
我在用一个的python library， 其中有一个data structure, 我知道它包括很多内容，
我的问题是：
- 怎么知道它包括什么内容 ？
- 怎么把它的内容读出来 ？
我首先想到的是把它转化成一个list,
such as:
a = list(DS) # DS is the data structure
这个会报错说：
TypeError: object is not iterable
请大家帮忙。

其实好多发到CNS的结构文章引用率都很一般，档次稍差的结构引用率自然更不理想，
所以structure的影响因子不高，但是貌似发structure还是挺不容易的。真正的行家看
一篇EMBO J和一篇structure，肯定是更认可structure。 |

准备四月份考PE，
刚在NCEES的网站上看了一下，发现有三种PE考试：
PE Civil
PE Structural I
PE Structural II
不知道该考哪一种？
也不知道PE Civil和PE Structural之间的区别，考那一种更好？
还有考哪一种最难，最有价值？
如有明年想考的兄弟姐妹可以一起交流一下，很多资料可以互通有无。

1.SE license does not exist on every state (only 11 states so far I believe)
. For example, even you pass SE I and II in Texas, your license is still PE.
It is not SE. As I said, only in IL and HI, you can pass SE exam and get
SE license without PE-civil.
2. To be licensed as PE in Texas and AZ, structural I only shall be fine.
You do not need Structural II exam.
3. I am just curious, what is the qualification to take Structural II in
Texas? Does any f |

简单一点来问：
1. 我能不能直接报考PE-Structure I？（比如在SC)
2. 如果问题1的答案是yes，且通过了Structural I的考试（没有考Structural II），
我能否拿到PE license 或者SE？
