LZ is implying that if a figure is not contraversial, then a teacher can
just talk about all postives, if he is "good" guy, or only talk about
negatives, if he is "bad" guy. I pointed out that "contraversial" is
subjective. A teacher should do his best to give his students as many facts

Recently I recommended one of my Ph.D. studens A for an internship, then
another student B feels he should be the one to be recommended for the
internship. The reality is that A is the ideal candidate for the internship
position, and the chance for B to be recruited for the position is almost
zero.
As always, I tried to explain to B why A is a better candidate and why B is
not competitive for the position. But B still claims that he is better than

申请，常给我发有关的信息，在他实验室发了几篇不错的文章，平常关系也不错，但是
人比较保守，不知推荐信会怎样。我现在的老板，也很支持，跟我说会提到我很
productive, have good idea, train graduate/undergraduate studens, good at
teaching, help with grant writing.但是他提到会指出我的challenge,比如我作为说
双语的研究人员，英语不是母语。我不知提到这个会不会影响我的申请，但我也不能左
右他的想法。还有一位是博士期间的答辩委员会的成员，也是现在的系主任，很痛快同
意我把他加入list,可是写起信来特别慢，那边的search committee 的秘书都发信给我
催信了，这个星期一我也又和他提了，他说会尽快，可到今天还是没有发出，我觉得那
边可能都要定short list 了， 如果真是因为材料不全，而耽误了申请，真是挺郁闷的

masters, will get 2k tuition waiver per semester along with 3k or 4k
scholarship from on campus job. this type of scholarship is so called
Graduate Center scholarship.
for the phd students, a few studens will get full TW+RA/TA stipend, or

我租的房子就在海边 边上是公园 出门就是beach 后院一个大游泳池
开party 比较自由 bbq 之类每周都有 门口是公园 停车位无数
这个房子如果买了 就是一大堆的麻烦事 租的话什么liability 都是房东的
一个电话都搞定了 经济不好租客难找 我的房东很怕我搬走 给的服务很给力的
而且我的工作性质 基本上隔断性的就会全美国的跑 留在家里的时间不确定 买房实在
是个套 忧人自扰而已
我父母也总跟我说买个房 说这才有个家的感觉 可是我觉得租房生活质量高多了 哪有
时间跟房子耗啊
我来美国的时候还没到20 本科换过很多美国室友 一开始也觉得他们的思想我不能理解
都很败家的样子 可是相处久了 就发现其实他们都享受到了
美国的一个好处就是 没有人能剥夺你的基本生存权利的 至于其他的 多花一点就赚一点
这个世界上只要有中国日本在 只要美国还有这么多勤奋的亚裔为社会做贡献 按时交税
付账单 担心房贷车贷卡贷 美国就垮不了 手中有cash 比付清的账单有力很多
