，自己的车的HOOD 给撞坏了。
我自己以前从来没有任何违规记录。TICKET 上写的是 no court appearance required
我的目的是 警方的记录上不要有我撞车的记录 这样保险便宜点。
我应该怎么办？ 我看了下说明好像 有下面两个选择：
(1)plead guilty with traffic school
(2) plead guilty with court supervision
我现在不确定 我这个撞车是不是警察会记录在案 还是说不会有记录？ 第二个问题是
我是去参加学习班 还是court supervision 来去掉这个记录？

晚上11点送同事回宾馆，在宾馆出来的小路左转（如图红星标记），再左转至kingery
highway，都开出两三个miles了，后面警笛响起，我靠边停下。
下来个光头，态度非常粗鲁，直接要驾照，开完罚单直接让签字，啥也不给解释。

1. 我该怎么做，出庭还是不出庭？
罚单上说：if your wish to plea GUILTY complete the PLEA of GUILT or the
APPLICATION for COURT SUPERVISION without COURT APPEANCE………
APPLICATION for COURT SUPERVISION是什么意思？
朋友们建议出庭，但警察给的白色小册子上有一句话“IF YOU GO TO COURT $285 AT A
MINIMUM”,这个啥意思？
2. 如果出庭，是不是直接不付罚单等法庭通知出庭时间，还是要怎么跟法庭说我要出
庭辩护？
3. 出庭应该准备些什么？

半年前的车祸，左转被直行teenager撞，两年新的车被total，人没啥大事儿。当时警
察给了我“failure to yield turning left”的ticket，要求上庭。十五年的老司机
头一次车祸拿罚单，头一次坐消防车去医院。上庭那天对方在父母及律师的陪同下到场
，还有第三方witness。（我的车尾被撞后转了几圈蹭到了在路口的第三方的车）。公
诉人告诉我可以给我三个月supervision但要plead guilty.我说我要请律师，然后法官
就宣布一个月后我请好律师再来，但对方和第三方第二次不需到庭。一个月后约好了律
师再次出庭，律师说我赢的机会不大，两个方案，plead guilty加三个月supervision
，或者bench trial赌对方来不了。他建议bench trial。我其实当时已经被这个事情弄
得很烦了，很想早点结束了事，但既然律师建议trial那我就听律师的话吧。两个月后
，也就是今天是上庭的日子，对方居然没有来。:-)

美国FDA华裔化学家因内线交易被判刑 罚没380万非法利益
美国食品暨药物管理局(FDA)前华裔化学家梁诚一(Cheng Yi Liang，音译)，因屡次利用与职务有关的非公开资料从事内线交易，5日获判五年徒刑。他从内线交易获得的380万元非法利益也被下令没收。
助理司法部长布鲁尔(Lanny Breuer)说：「梁诚一利用在FDA担任化学家接触的敏感内线资料，从制药业股票市场获得不法利益。他多年来利用在FDA的职务在股市轻易赚钱，可是今天的判刑显示这种做法的后果。」
卫生福利部督察长办公室特别探员马隆(Elton Malone)说：「梁某利用敏感的内线资料大胆谋利。他不知道调查人员早就利用先进科技工具发掘和追踪犯罪行为。我们将继续坚持联邦员工遵守最高标准。」

发帖数: 177 | 36 我生物化学背景。有CNS一作文章一片，还有2－3篇JACS文章。有over5年以上的博士后
经验了。申请faculty不是不可行，但是真的不想再拼搏那么狠了，尤其有了孩子，也
买了房子。如果申请，可能全美范围申请，到时老公也得换工作。太折腾了。现在有一
个机会，在学校core facility 相当于senior lab manager的职位.管理仪器。和各个
lab合作，supervise postdoc, graduate student using instruments. write grants
. supervise一个人。
工资不高，也就是6万不到。但是福利不错，很轻松。可以一旦选了这个工作，以后如
果想再回research,做faculty，可能会很不容易（因为很显然对科研不是很热情）。但
是不知道以后去工业界会是个plus还是minus.
现在必须很快做决定。请大家给提供一下建议。 |

但不一样的白人老教授（可以算是大佬了）的话让我很困惑。他和我说，招我是要让我
进入他的研究团队，说是他几年后就要退休了，想让年轻老师接替他的研究，接管那个
研究中心，所以想让我加入他的团队，一起和他co-supervise他的学生，一起做研究并
申请钱。这些在我面试的时候所有老师包括系主任都没有提到过，突然他这么说让我觉
得很奇怪。首先，我不清楚加入一个老教授研究中心旗下，这个怎么感觉像博后的性质
，而不是一个独立的发考题；然后co-supervise他的学生，毕竟也不是我的学生，虽然
我不出钱，但那个学生毕竟不是我的；最重要的是，如果我同意了，那就像我是老教授
的下属，这系主任会怎么想？
我打算是直接找系主任说这个事，不知怎样？
非常的困惑，不知这种情况该怎么办。麻烦老师们进来指点下！跪谢！ |

想划清界线的话，你可以说，你会很高兴的来参与对他的某些学生(selected students
)的 co-supervision, 也很高兴能有机会和他一起合作研究，但是因为你自己将来也会
有自己的学生，而且也会可能开创一些新的方向，和以前的方向未必是一致的，然后问
他对你在他的项目的参与以及对学生的supervision有什么样的期望值。
总之，不要直接拒绝和他的合作，因为这个在主观和客观都对你各方面都不利。但是，
你可以把自己作为一个独立研究者的身份来考虑问题。比方说，刚才我说的那个开创一
些新的方向就是一个独立研究者才会提出来的问题。 |

发帖数: 28562 | 39 这个我得提醒你一下，RAP不是一个独立职位。如果你自己有自己的资金来完全付自己
的工资的话那就另当别论。但是如果你的工资是由你的PI的资金里付的话，那么在理论
上他是你的research supervisor. 对你做的研究是必须进行负责的。
你拿系主任和普通教员的关系来比是很不恰当的。系主任对普通教员的supervising 仅
仅限于那个教员的job performance, 比方说那个教员是否拉到足够的资金，是否教学
足够尽责，等等。但是在具体的research方面，同一个系的tenure-track faculty之间
是互相独立的关系，即使是系主任也没有对其他教员的具体研究工作进行supervising
的权利（虽然在某些特殊情况下可能会对大的方向进行干涉）。
至于你说的那个“民主”的问题，这个就有点为自己找借口了。如果一定要说民主的话
，给你们实验室扫地的大妈是否也应该对你的文章有发言权？
另外，如果你实在觉得你的PI苦待了你，那么你大可以换一个实验室，或者自己独立出
来。 |
