BLACKSBURG, Va. -- A police officer was shot at Virginia Tech on Thursday
morning and officials warned everyone to seek shelter while an armed suspect
was at large on the campus where 33 people died in 2007 in the deadliest
mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

killed Thursday night at the school's campus outside Boston, police said.
The shooting came as the entire Boston area was on high alert following
Monday's fatal bomb explosions during the Boston Marathon and as the FBI was
leading a massive manhunt for suspects.
Police in Cambridge, where the school is located, issued a pair of Tweets
saying that an officer reported shot around 10:30 p.m. had died.
