s*****6 发帖数: 254 | 1 You can start by reading some MBA-level finance books. Should be available
in the library. Areas to start:
1. Corporate Finance
2. Investments
These are two main foundation areas. Of course there are more specific
areas to get into, but one step at a time. Hope you enjoy the reading. I
did.

It's relatively easy for Accounting graduates to secure a job. Almost all

Both schools are smaller and regional, maybe religious as well. If you are
willing to drive an hour or so, you can try Western Washington University (
another regional university). Also, if I remember correctly, there's a
school called Seattle Pacific University.
As for your background, it should not affect your admission too much. I

accepted into Master's of Accounting program as well. You will need to take

s*****6 发帖数: 254 | 18 From his background, it seems that Master's in Finance fits well. MBA also
works fine. However, you should also consider the following (in no
particular order):
1. ultimate objective - stay in US or return home?
2. career prospects - which major is more in demand and hence easier to get
a job.
3. school ranking - the higher the ranking, the lower the chance of getting
scholarship (on average).
4. personal interest - what does he like? If you get a job that you enjoy,
it's going to be personal... 阅读全帖 |

decrease in the interest rate.

s*****6 发帖数: 254 | 26 I have to agree with beibei2929. The salary level is definitely not the

difference is not that significant.

toward promotion as well. Also, there may be some things which you don't

there is also another angle: sometimes a less capable candidate may be
elected a leader as a compromise among various parties. had they elected a
dominant and capable leader, it would not be as easy to pass the own agendas
of the various conflicting parties.
as a result, electing a less capable leader maximizes the support of all the
stakeholders. |

The job market is better for Econ PhD in the sense that there are more
choices (state govt., research institutes, federal agencies, etc.). However
, the starting salary is much lower (~$60-$70K) compared to Finance (~$100K)
. Of course, you might know someone with Econ PhD making >$100K, but he/she
is an outlier. I have many friends with Econ PhDs, most working in various
agencies of State Governments.

s*****6 发帖数: 254 | 50 It depends on the state. Some states consider PhD students as in-state

for tax purposes only".
