their mothers' sides matched the DNA of Native Americans who spread
southward.
"Those lineages are not found in the north anymore," said Tackney.
The researchers also say this bolsters a theory that the earliest Native
Americans came to North America from Asia -- on a land bridge -- when the
two continents were still connected. Their DNA evolved over time, O'Rourke
said.
