I ran 10 mi on Sat and 20mi in trail on Sunday(Jan 24). 10 mi pace was 7.5-8
or so and 20 miler for very slow, took me over 3 hr and 10min.
I knew I needed that long run badly. |

race and muddy on the dirt road trail. I pushed to the limit while ran with
few of the local top 10 runners. I actually led them till the last 2-3 miles. |

for 10 miles in the woods. We usually do first half with easy run like 8 min
pace. For second half, everybody running like racing, usually gets to 7min
pace.
I do some short runs(5miler) in week days with good speed like 7:45-8:20min
pace. I tell u this, Florida weather keeps 80 deg till late Oct. I often run
at lunch time.

Sounds like you did a lot of easy runs and marathon pace runs.
Did you do tempos or intervals also?
Training at 80 degree weather is hard! It's almost like training at altitude

pace in 55 F.

which means most of the runs in the 90-100 degree.Plus the humidity, I
never got a 5 mi run below 8 min pace!When temperature got down to 30-50 deg
, I could easily get 7:15 to 7:30min pace for 5 milers.

in Aug-Setember(I was planning on running a December MA) and then stoped in
Oct, not running much in Nov and Dec till January I followed that program
for the last 4 weeks when I decided to run this MA in Jan。

I'm a 5.0 and played an Open tournament a few years ago. I got 1 game off
the #2 Open player in Florida. He was the #8 seed in the tournament and
ended up losing in the quarters. The guy who won that tournament was #1 at
FSU and got a wild card into the Tallahassee challenger a few months later.
He lost 2 and 2 in the first round to some dude I'd never heard of. That
dude then got beat 2 and 2 by Mardy Fish.
