据联谊会负责颜路阳介绍，UTCSSA连续20多年在除夕来临之际举办大型文艺晚会，以凝聚海外游子、弘扬中华民族文化为宗旨，致力于透过大型文艺晚会增加中华母体文化的向心力和感召力，营造中华情结，与在加拿大海外人士一起共庆佳节。
UTCSSA 成立于上个世纪80年代末期，由当时在多大学学习和工作的海外华人学生、学者所创办。颜路阳说，UTCSSA在多大注册，在中国驻多伦多总领事馆教育组支持下，以维护中国留学生正当权益、丰富留学生文化娱乐生活、促进广大留学生更好地学习工作为目标的进步的中国学生学者组织。
