Postdocs exist because there are not enough jobs for them. The reason for
it is that they dont have unions, licensing boards that limit the numbers of
graduates.
Talk about free market. Talk about poor robbing the rich.
When they pay you to get a Ph.D, it smells. That said, I have all the
sympathy for postdocs. But for a lot of people, it is a better choice.

Apparently, Einstein realized the problem with gravity (as Newton did):
the universe may eventually collapse by its own gravity. to counter act
that, he had to introduce a constant, and as a result, believed that
the universe has to be static (non-revolving).
Lematire, however, utilized the dynamic/non-static nature of the
model to prove that somehow the universe was created (Lematire,
after all, is a mathematician and preist) with the backing of
the Church.
