Osprey，没翻错吧，快要去iraq了，在die hard4里还露了下脸（btw，那个die hard4
里的F35真的假的？象直升飞机一样悬停？）
整篇文章大意就是这个东西搞了几十年，花了20 bilion，还要再花35，总共买487架，
平均一架上亿，但是问题多多，坠毁多次，死了30个人，典型的军事工业利益影响决策
的例子
主要问题是以直升飞机模式降落时，万一引擎不工作，普通直升飞机可以autorotate，
旋翼无动力的旋转平缓降落，Osprey则基本就只能坠毁了

Timing belt is simply a rubber made belt similar as those driving belt.
It is called timing belt because it connects Crankshaft with Camshaft
and make them turn at the same time. Moreover, the phase of both shafts

那个标记不是TDC标记，是xxx BTDC的标记，也就是这个标记
跟pointer齐平时该点火，这点比TDC稍稍提前。
有的BTDC标记在flywheel上，有的在crankshaft pulley上，是
红线标记，有的有一条，有的刻了三条（中间那条要对齐pointer）。
在crankshaft pulley上的，除了有BTDC标记外还有TDC白线标记。
94Honda以后的车一般都采用后者---标记都在crankshaft pulley上，
不用卸什么，在外面就可以用timing light照得到。
也就是timing gun不是每点火就发光，而是把点火频率采样降低了
来在某几次点火的时候发一下光？
而真正的对齐判断就是：
看每次timing gun光线照过来的时候，BTDC红线是否与pointer对齐？ |

put the socket and rachet in place, jam it,
remove spark plugs (or just the wires), then start the car, the engine
will turn in the direction that will loose the nut.
It's quite a scary scene, but worked for me every
time.

本来一切顺利，拆除三个皮带，都很正常。就是alternator的mounting bolts，
比较顽固，用上了breaker bar + WD40等了半个小时就下来了。眼看就要到
timing belt了，发现自己犯了一个非常大的错误。把lower timing belt cover

first I clearify some basic points.
timing means: when to ignite the fuel and air mixture.
ignition is done through applying 15000-20000 high voltage
to the spark plug and generate a spark. hehe.
usually it needs to be done before piston reach TDC, since
fuel needs some time to burn. it is often represented in
degrees (rotation angle for crankshaft) before TDC.
for my car, during idle, the timing should be 15+-2 degree.

一定的经验，timing belt相对它们，工作量大得多，但是难度差不多。
这次换timing belt一共花了三个半天，现在天黑得早，我们这儿5点就天黑了，我又起得
晚，每天也就下午干活。而且有一些重复工作，因为每天干完之后，我都把side engine
mount和轮胎装回去，要不然floor jack得一直撑着engine，不安全，而且卸下来得轮胎
也没地儿放。一共花的时间大概是3+5+2=10小时。
因为是在weekday干得活，所以找人帮忙买东西不是很方便。强烈建议想换timing belt的
兄弟，把时间安排在周末，或者提前找好帮手。因为过程复杂，中间不可遇见的问题很多
，可能需要买一些提前没准备好的工具。美国这鬼地方，但凡买点东西就要开车。

我是刚买的这辆2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe。从OWNER手里购买。
开了4天了，一切还OK，已经过了inspection。
engine现在是72600 miles, 之前做mechanical check的时候人家就建议换timing belt
，给出的价格是将近$900。包括labor fee，parts,还有个water pump也包含在内。
我的问题：
1：刚才买的车，手头比较紧，我想4个月之后，差不多跑了3000miles之后再换timing
belt，这样会不会比较冒险？我知道，一旦timing belt出了问题，engine就算报废了
，再修的话就至少$3000左右。
2：换timing belt需要这么多钱吗？
我在麻省的西部。

有人叫我修断了timing belt的corolla,拆开timing cover,里面都烧得面目全非,
所有能转动的零件在高温燃烧的timing belt带动下全部被卡死,没有一样东西拆得
下来的,后来我叫丫拖到dealer那里去修,结果dealer也不愿意修,最后只好50块钱卖
给junk yard了.

起决于timing belt断裂瞬间活塞的位置. 不过, lucky cases 不多见(<50%).
~ $450 换 timing belt, ~ $1300-1600 修engine(如果真的伤到了的话) 是正常价钱.
不过既然换timing belt的话, 一般情况下都会同时把 water pump等几个附件一起更新
的(预计多 ~$150-$300吧). |

发帖数: 577 | 37 DIY timing belt的话题在版上零零散散，对大牛来说啥当然都是小菜，对一般DIY来说
因为看法不一总是难以决断是否应该DIY。teil在月前闲暇实在手痒，DIY了大俗车
Accord，手记带图给大家做个参考。 侧重点在于提供网上不是很容易查到的第一手信息
首先作为总结，teil花了大概1天半时间，主要是因为中间漏买工具出了点差错，感觉
你要觉得DIY是自己的一个爱好，的确乐在其中，不妨一做，没想象那么困难。否则还
是送车铺算了。 另：更换过程发现上次换timing belt的车铺给忘放了两个密封圈/垫
，当然是小问题。
内容包括 timing belt和balancer belt (Accord是两条带）, water pump, 两个
tensioner, 两个tensioner 弹簧，顺便做了 valve clearance adjustment和valve
cover gasket/SP grommet (of course)，换了外面的两条V-belt.

发帖数: 577 | 38 上贴说过，timing 虽然随时都可以重设，如果是自己第一次做，最简单的就是在拆出
旧的TB前counterclockwise转crankpulley,把Timing设到No1 piston d TDC，对于
accord，这里有4个pulley:
1. Camshaft pulley的 “UP" Mark 需要正上 --- 这个跟crank pulley 的timing
mark匹配 (照片1）
2. crank pulley TDC mark要align到oil pump上的Mark （照片2）
3. Left front balancer pulley (照片3）
4. Right front balancer pulley (照片4）
然后就是松开tensioner Bolt后，把里面那个tensioner往下压（照片5），外面那个往
上推（照片6），两条带就一起松下来了--- 这个其实看一下就明白朝那个方向推了，
因为反方向只能让belts更紧
记得换WP前要先放掉coolant，否则水漫金山！换WP就没啥说的了，感觉看不看手册都
无所谓，拧螺丝不要太松或者太紧就好。

说timing belt 在66k 就歇菜的. 现在回想起来这个问题在大约在55K mile的时候就出
现了,在速度大于50mph的时候, 就会听到发动机附近有轻微明显急速震动声音 (嘣, 蹦
,嘣). 上周, 在启动和低速行驶时,hood中噪音明显增大, 最终在周二歇菜. 拖到Midas
, 换timing-belt kit + water pump, 总共$700. 所幸engineer 还没问题.
在我开过的四辆车中, 这是唯一一个timing-belt 坏在70K mile之前的车. 从前总是觉
得这款车的可靠性应该不错,现在看来也就那么回事. |

一般就连water pump和周围的一起换掉了，即使他们没坏，这是很常见的办法
因为如果将来他们坏了又得按照换timing belt的labor折腾一回，你又要付一次相当于
换timing belt的labor钱
我有一次换honda accord的timing belt，几个local的修车铺给的quote比dealer还贵
，我最后就在honda dealer换的，好像全下来700多
所以别迷信修车铺便宜，问问dealer看看吧 |

发帖数: 126 | 44 不知道，我那车03年的civic，也不觉得有啥值钱的零件给他换啊。不过换下来的
timing belt和water pump 都完好无缺，早知道就等些日子再换了。感觉这个店还挺正
规，起码都穿着那个mobile的制服。就是像样的修车工人挺少，全部是你们说的七八个
老魔都在洗车，换机油，修车的时候还有免费咖啡供应，虽然俺不喜欢咖啡。唉，反正
现在心里是七上八下，末了，我还是拿回我的旧零件了，不想当成新的安装到别人的车
上，我也没有看到我的timing belt的拆掉盒子的包装，只给了我water pump的盒子。
自己安慰自己吧，他还建议我下次换个power @@&& belt？？就是帮助方向盘转动的时
候用的那个皮带吧。
这次就给换了timing belt，water pump，colent，别的都没有，$365. 我看修了四个
钟头不到，皮带20刀，保60000mile，water pump 96刀，其余的都是人工。保修一年，
可是没有在invoice上，只是口头的，大家给评评吧。
我再板上看到好像还有一个空调用的啥玩意要换的，对方说fine，不用换，我想是不是

感觉belt 100k左右必须要还（各车还不一定一样）
timing chain好像不用换，省钱省时
多数车是belt
好像nissan, dodge truck都是chain。不知道对不对
有没有什么其它简单区分方法？ |

发帖数: 75 | 47 02年的 MDX , 145xxx mile了，从auto check 和 carfax都没用查到timing belt更换
记录。盖子上面也没用标记。
哪位知道除了拆开timing belt的盖子，还有没有别的办法检查？
14万多mile了，至少应该换过一次吧。
注：网上能搜索到02 MDX timing belt，说明不是 timing chain。 |

今天咨询了一圈价格，dealer要价1299，还是便宜了300之后。一般的mechanic shop差
不多900左右，用的是OEM的parts。
换的东西包括：timing belt, water pump, Timing Belt Tensioner, and change the
coolant.
大家换timing belt都这么贵吗？ （parts 近400，labor近500） |

Nissan VQ35D 3.5L, 2004，近12万迈
实在不想乱换零件，nissan的sensor都不便宜
灯亮后换过机油了，清除错误码开20迈后就会再次亮SES
清理过intake valve timing control，清理过跟他连接的机油孔
拆开了Valve Cover，清理了CPS Sensor上的淤泥（其实也不多）
试图清理过Camshaft sprocket，不过中途放弃了
有修过的tx吗？多谢！

Incorrect camshaft timing
Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control
solenoid system
Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber
