一（8/8/2011）签美国签证的经历。
《《《TORONTO 美国签证》》》
STEP 1: 填写DS-160表
https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/
美国签证的第一步，就是要进上面那个链接填写一份DS-160表。因为下一步在网上预约
美国签证的时候，需要填写网上提交这份表的CONFIRMATION NUMBER,才能继续交钱和进
入预约窗口。
这份表一开始就要选择在哪儿申请签证，如果是加拿大多伦多就选 “CANADA,TORONTO
”，填写这份表时请记得经常点击“SAVE APPLICATION”，因为如果不SAVE 一直一页
页往下填，它很快会默认没动作而自动跳出来，那样就会丢了之前填过的没存下来的所
有东东啦。
***注意*** 在这份DS-160 表里你需要UPLOAD 一张PASSPORT SIZE 照片，关于这个照
片的事是很变态的，就算当时UPLOAD 的时候 OK了，等去了签证处签证时，还是要被查

想找個group挂靠一下，大家share一下information，至於喜不喜歡Toronto，我想因人
而异吧！
看樣子有很多人不太喜歡Toronto？hum。。我說不上特不喜歡，最起碼在吃的方面還是
挺贊的！！
我來了有一個多月了，正在找工作，基本上所有的 recruiting firm 我都遞了resume
，也有一些interview了，可是過程很漫長，而且我也不知道到底有多少人和我競爭，
是不是六月多後工作就更難找了。很多人都說在Toronto找一份工作要半年？？是真的
嗎？？而且真沒覺得美國的文憑好用，有的recruiter上來就問有沒有加拿大的工作經
驗。另外first interview，和second interview之間回复是不是不超過48 hour 呀？
還有個朋友建議我再讀一個學位！！我該怎麼辦呢？？請大家賜教。 |

direcotr interview感覺，工作技術指數不高，基本上他們都工作10 年了才那個AVP，
這在華爾街會被笑死的！！我想你應該是很marktable的，但在toronto。。。基本上找
不到什麽特好的工作。而且我在來toronto之前也做了快兩年的加拿大的稅，現在就靠
這點東西騙人了。說實話toronto的工作機會比NYC少2/3.而且公司不是大公司。你要能
內部transfer。。就transfer吧！！不要像我一樣，來了就傻了。我在堅持一下，不行
只有明年回美國了。

计划，请大家，尤其是Toronto的朋友帮忙看一看。
Day 1: arrive in Toronto，下午和晚上去Harbourfont Center看一看
Day 2: Niagara Falls (安排在这天主要是因为只有周五和周日晚上有烟火）
Day 3：Island Park，晚上去Chinatown吃饭
Day 4：CN Tower，回家
有老人、有小孩，不知道这样的安排是否合适，感觉Toronto玩的地方还是挺多的，不
知掉有没有miss了好玩的景点。谢谢 |

首先，关于预约，请各位至少提前45天准备吧。 我似乎运气比较好，第一次进入系统2
小时之内就刷到了一个半月以后的（当时是下午2-4点之间）；后来教别人的时候，又
是直接有号（当时是晚上7-8点之间）。 当然，可预约时间都是45以后的。
其次，关于取签证时间，很多前辈都说了，确实是两天后下午取（比如周一签证，周三
下午取）。 之前看到加拿大那边在toronto签证好像需要信封并邮寄，这在renew签证
的时候是不需要的，默认自取。
然后，是个人印象：toronto的vo比较中规中矩，对于返签其他问题不用问，基本就看
是否check。 而从偶搜集的情况来看，在toronto被check的比例还是很大的，vo有点条
件反射的意思。各位没有信心的可以参考以下经验准备，或者换个地方试试运气。
偶的专业不算敏感，但去年在国内被check一次。所以偶之前专门研究并准备了那份
testimony，觉得这是避免再次被check最重要的材料了。
果然，这次vo先问了几个基本问题，在哪个学校，还有多长时间之后，就开始要offer

貼出來很多人也給了我很好的忠告。不光是找工作的，還有生活上的。toronto雖裡美
國不遠但是文化和生活上是有明顯的差別。
hum。。如果你是四大的，最近的情況是，D&T 的US tax 在London，離toronto開車有2
-3 hours，KPMG 在溫哥華有空缺，另外， toronto 有做international tax 的。E&Y
so far 招的是international tax，PWC 沒看見什麽US Tax的，但一直都在招tax
accountant。
我同意一個網友講的，無論在什麽地方，有什麽樣的經歷都是一種人生體驗。

時，只是習慣了每天工作很久。這也是我決定來Toronto的原因之一，我也想有life。
hum。。5大BANK到現在為止沒什麽我這行的opening。所以我只能不停的找尋。。。哈
哈哈！！！好難呀。
聽說加拿大的好工作，都是內部推薦的，而且不認識人挺難進5大BANK的。我和lannick
，davidaplin，和其他的一些recruiting firm 都見面了。感覺Toronto的工作來來去
去就那麼幾個，還都不是特好的firm。我每天自己也要做很久的research，但網上post
的position很少，我就找一些我在NYC的network幫我在公司內部找。但是一旦我找到
opening自己申請了，recruiter就不能再幫你recruit了。我最近遇到一個怪事兒。我
問了好幾個人他們多是lannick recruit 的，我就去了lannick，他們promise我，要
send resume 去一些公司，過了兩個星期我打點話follow up，他們告訴我那家公司覺

1. 在Toronto的旅馆是在airport旁边，这里是否有方便的公共交通到Toronto
Downtown；又或者如果驾车游Downtown，free parking是否好找
2. African Lion Safari能玩多长时间啊？朋友说能玩一天
3. 请大家推荐几家Toronto不错的中国餐馆
4. 一般Bufflao签证是不是都是当天就能拿到啊，不然租车+订旅馆损失就大了 |

前一段去这两个城市玩了一圈，感觉不错，回来想写点东西与大家分享。。。
Toronto
加拿大第一大城市，果然名不虚传，中国人也是多的一塌糊涂，不过老实说，
没多少好玩的。算起来，在downtown地区有
CN tower,最高的塔，可以上去看看city view，从central station到哪儿
有skywalk，可以在上面走，不用在downtown的街上乱窜；
skydome，是个屋顶可以闭合的大球场，职棒Toronto Bluejays的主场，对
棒球不感兴趣的同学，去参观一下就可以了；
central island，离downtown很近的一个岛，其实是个不大不小的公园，可以
划船，散步，游泳，野餐。。。没什么特别的景致，不过往南可以看看lake
antario,望北可以看看toronto的建筑群；
Museum,我就去了Roy |

Houston=Calgary>Toronto>Colorado springs
Colorado Springs 冬天其实也特别冷，经常暖气费就特别贵，而且生活比较无聊。唯
一去的就是华人教会，如果不是去Colordo springs，我大概不会受洗成为基督徒，
colorado springs 有很多我们国家的体育界名人，我在查经班里面认识了很多中国的
世界冠军，著名教练。确实有很帅哥美女。教会的人不知道我是同志，但是特别喜欢我
，因为我单身，做同工，而且喜欢唱歌朗诵。给教会除了不少力，但是生活确实无聊，
工作机会不多。好的中餐馆基本上没有，不过房子不算太贵。
Calgary 冬天很冷，可是有chinook总是有暖风过来，冬天的大半时间都在零度左右，
不过暖风一走，就掉到了零下三十度左右，屋子里面非常的暖和。Calgary工作机会多
，好的中餐馆也多，加拿大吗，虽然不比多伦多，另外房子比较便宜，我住在城南的一
个小区，像欧洲小镇一样，感觉非常舒服。夏天非常舒服，周边的风景很美，所以很多
好莱坞的电影都在那里拍，包括最有名的断背山。

toronto的哲学排名是十几名，uva的哲学排名是三十多。两所学校都要求做
助教，toronto的要清闲一些，钱也少一些。uva的助教要忙一些，钱也多
一些。gg倾向于加拿大，我却觉的米国更好一些。不知道各位对这两所学校
有什么评价?
我只有rutgers的offer，从地图上看，两个学校离rutgers的距离好像差不多远。
415就要到了，偶们也比较着急，期待各位的建议，多谢了。

今年来不及了，Recruiter说把我安排到Toronto. 等了几天了中间还有follow up,现在
没收到一点准信。Recruiter说Toronto那边一直没有回复她。
版上有没有大神了解亚麻的招人流程？像我这种情况是说一定会拿到offer吗？还是要
看Toronto office的脸色？谢谢大神们！ |

我感觉Toronto有些不一样，我电面过Seattle和Vancouver，但Toronto一直不理我。
我下个月面Seattle的职位，申请的时候明确说了这个职位可以是Seattle，NY，
Vancouver，但不包含Toronto。 |

stamp when u r in Toronto.
After that, they will not check your visa when you are in U.S.
But if you fly from U.S to Shanghai via Toronto, I dont think they need to check your visa. Your visa is only entry to U.S , not for China.
In some sense, you can treat Toronto as a U.S city here. |

Comparing C with T, I want to clarify myself cold area not always a bad
choice for investment and working, like Toronto, beijing, and 1900 of
Chicago.
I don't have money in Toronto though. I will focus on BJ or other cities in
China.
Do you happen to know where has good elementary/high school district in BJ?
If you have 3 houses in BJ, you should focus on RE related area. Just my 2
cents. |

加拿大签证寄签不多说了，版上信息很多，我寄的detroit，两个多星期收到
美签约的是2月14日多伦多上午9:30，13号先飞Buffalo，在机场的bus有直接去toronto
的，$20一位
14日早上大概8：45到领馆，没排队，直接进去了，交了160确认页、护照、I20、SEVIS
收据，坐下等着叫号。
先被叫到10号窗口录指纹，然后没过一会，被叫去面谈
VO是个三四十岁的白男，面无表情
问题大概是
1. 啥学校
2. 啥专业
3. 研究啥
4. 学业已经开始了么
5. 还要几年毕业
6. 资助从哪来（我塞进去系里的letter）
7. 你做的东西是general的还是针对某种特定的
VO看电脑，相当长一段时间没说话，我站那儿琢磨不会哥们儿我这回要被check，蹲多伦
多了吧。。。
8. 把你所有的school letter都给我
（我塞进去成绩单，在读证明，老板的support letter）

articles about visa application in Toronto, we think our experience should be
helpful for others who will soon go there.
Our background are simple: my husband and I got our master degrees last year
and then got jobs and changed to H1-B. We never changed school and went back
to China twice in the last three years. We renewed our F-1 visa two years ago
in Toronto too.
Our appointment was on Monday 9:00am. We left Buffalo at 5a |
