去年3月震惊中美两地的中国留学生凌虐同学案，2日再有新结果。第四名被捕的施暴者鲁峥，当天对三项指控全部“不抗辩”（no contest），检辩双方达成协议，鲁峥将至少获刑三年。但如果宣判当天未出庭，将被宣判最高终身监禁。
当天鲁峥身着绿色格子衬衫，在一名朋友陪同下出庭。到庭不久，就被律师叫出法庭，在翻译陪同下谈了很久话。记者询问此案检察官Casey Jarvis当天是否会和往常一样，庭审不到五分钟即结束，但他表示可以期待。
根据检察官起诉书，鲁峥被起诉三项重罪，分别是凌虐（torture）、绑架和攻击（assault）。其中凌虐罪如果成立，最高可以判处终身监禁。当天鲁峥在律师的帮助下，对这三项罪名均表示不抗辩。律师透过翻译强调，这并不是认罪（plead guilty），只是一种中间状态，不认罪，但也不否认。
随后，法官宣读了检辩双方达成的协议：7月法庭正式宣判时，如果鲁峥按时出庭，法庭将只追究鲁峥的攻击罪，他将获刑三年。如果没有按时出庭，法庭将三项罪名全部重罚，最高可判终身监禁。鲁峥当庭表示，他会按时出庭。
