I really don't think I have the guts to try a trail like this |

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 2 Its not surprise that there is only 1 signature on the summit register and it was placed on the summit since 6-28-08. Ze has the second signature.
The lonely summit register:
Here is the topo map for the area.

anchor打了个外行人的普通结
我差点彻底晕过去,玩命也不是这么玩的... |

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 9 True, but whenyou have to go back to the ridge, there are more climbing to do
and by the time you will be tired already, so you need more time for rest
and going slower to prevent any mistakes. |

Once you are on the ridge, most parts of the ridge is look like this:

The climbing section was like you either go down with exposure or you
can go to the left side and climb down the brush to avoid the exposure. |

If you want to learn about hiking and related stuff, you can read Ze's web
site, very informative. His title on the meetup is "Chief Hiking Scientist"

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 27 I like this quote from William O. Douglas, from the book of "Man and
Mountain"
"I learned early that rightness of life is found in adventure. Adventure
calls on all the faclties of mind and spirit. It develops self-reliance and
independence. Life then teems with excitement. But man is not ready for
adventure unless he is rid of fear. For fear confines him and limits his
scope. He stays teth...ered by strings of doubt and indecision and has only
a small and narrow world to explore." |
|

2672 | 37 I'll stay in the back, depends on the time, but if the group pace is too
slow, then we'll give up summit, but either way you need to be able to hike
8,000 feet to tram station to take the tram back.
Once you sign up on this hike, we are a team, so either we give up as a group or we summit as a group -- just like the Triplet Rocks I just did. (Ze was desperate).
I'll set the time later that we'll need to get to tram station. |

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 38 I was researching on the mines around Iron Mountain and I found that the
most difficult route is going up North Ridge of Iron Mountain, I don't know
if this is the route that Pifu was on two years ago.
Here is the 'only' trip report I found.

LD is the guy that did Triplet Rocks and put the summit register there.
Anyone interested in doing this? Perhaps around Dec. |
|
t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 39 Let's do it next spring then. I figure the stats for southwest ridge isn't
that bad, 16.5 miles, 8,000' gain.
Perhaps we can nail Triplet Rocks down next year, too :D Now I am kind mad
that I didn't make it when I was 30 minutes away! shoot.. make me to go
back to that ridge ... it wasn't even a ridge.. it was h_ll.

when I did the Triplet Rocks last week (which was in Bighorn area), I
intentionally travel in both ways on the highway to make sure the highway is
accessible. Very nice drive, btw.
On my hikes, I always prefer people stick in a group or at least have a
partner. Do you have anybody that go with you if you are only doing Baden-
Powell?
If it is just Baden-Powell, it is very esay hike, I'm sure someone else on
