dedicated his lifetime to USTC without much financial
return or fame (such as being elected academician).
I am wondering how many people are interested in the idea
of setting up a "Ruan Tunan Memorial Fund" to preserve his
legacy. The fund can be used to offer scholarship in USTC
and award other dedicated teachers just like Prof Ruan.

Nod. As far as I know, there were five first prize that
year. One from BioEng (should be you, right?, taught by Chen
Yingnan), one from FineChem (taught by Huang Jie), one from
ChemEngProc and two from ChemEng (taught by Fang Tunan). I
guess the guy from ChemEngProc should be taught by Ni
Fusheng. Confused!
Also, there were no foreign students in Fang's 93 class.
There were some in Dai4 Gan4 Ce4's Fluid Mechanics class. |

1. 我们如果在碳纳米管中塞入磁性物质或者电荷分离物质，就可以让
碳纳米在磁场或者电场作用下定向排列。同样在碳纳米管中塞入导电
物质可做成通信电缆，在碳纳米管中加入长链物质可作为超长碳纳米
管的支撑材料（防止碳纳米管折断），如果加入刚性物质则可防止碳
纳米管弯曲，加入有一定角度的刚性物质则可做成碳纳米管弯头。
2.碳纳米管做在针尖(特指刘忠范教授经常讲的那个针尖，我忘了叫什
么名字了)，可以长途搬运原子或分子（先施加电场将原子吸入碳纳米
管中，或吸附在纳米管上，到指定地点后再把它喷出来），可以用于
纳米器件的组装。碳纳米管具有一定刚性，做针尖估计定位 |

能带结构
在分子中可能的电子能级是分立的、量子化的。但分子变得更大时，这些能级相互就会
靠得更近。在晶体里能级之间靠得非常近以致于形成了
连续的带子，这些带子的能量具有实际的利用目的。因此，晶体的电子结构可以用其能
带结构来描述。
能带的数学描述
无限晶体的电子结构用能带图来描述，能带图给出k空间——叫作布里（Brillouin）渊
区——中各点的电子轨道的能量。这与角分辨光电子能
谱实验结果相一致。
k空间不是一个物理空间，它是对轨道成键性质的一种描述。一个无限长的原子链中，轨
道的相位可以是从全成键到全反键（这两个极端情况分
别记为k=0和k=π/a）之间的任何状态。其中有时是一条直线有三个成键原子再接着一个
反键
的原子的结合方式或者其他什么结合方式。定义了
k空间后，对于某些原子k=0对应于全成键的对称性，而对于其他原子则是全反键对称的
，这取决于原子轨道的对称性。
