Intangible Cultural Heritage program: " hasn't China been trying to sort
of suppress ethnic minorities and in particular Uighur traditions. How can
they also be asking to safeguard this tradition?"
Before any answer can be provided, she already projected the impression of
China suppressing ethnic minorities and in particular Uighur tradition as
a matter of fact and stat quo.

现在乌鲁木齐所谓的维族聚居区的核心点二道桥。
解放前是俄国人划的贸易区，相当于租界。
十字街口，
西南一块是俄国领事馆，（中苏恶化后是歌舞话剧院的院子）
西北一块的北边是市场，市场南边是汉人的菜园子。（现在团结剧场这边）
东北一块东边是清朝旧兵营，
东北沿街(现在大巴扎）和东南一块是汉人商铺。
整个二道桥除了市场里有一点维族行商，
剩下的都是毛子和中国人。
解放后海关商检外贸军工局买了汉人的地，
变成公家单位。
维族是解放后慢慢来的，
缓慢增加。
改革开放以后，特别是最近十年，
维族源源不断的涌来，占领了二道桥，
汉族逐渐都把房子卖了，
离开了。
