RE: 再难受的日子跟最快乐的日子一样,都会过去滴~~
Suffering can be transformed into peace, wisdom and strength, maybe the best
thing that ever happened to people.
Once you work through your fear, worry, guilt and negative self-talk, you
will garner yourself with uncanny ability to blast through any obstacles.
Simply boosted and amazed, ...
If I could provide any piece of advice, don't complain, don't blame others,
always work on yourself,
you will see a different world.

I. The Modern Period
Once upon a time there was a universe. In this universe there was a planet.
On this planet there was virtually no laughter. Nothing like ``humor'' was
really known. People never laughed, nor jested, nor kidded, nor joked, nor
anything like that. The inhabitants were extremely serious, conscientious,
sincere, hard-working, studious, well wishing, and moral. But of humor they
knew nothing. All except for a small minority who had some feeling for what
humor was. These people oc... 阅读全帖

Finished this book several weeks ago. I am about to put some notes here, but
I am afraid I am a too lazy. Now I am engaged in Zeitgeist, in the same time,
dappling in James Gleick's Sir Isaac Newton.
Some feeling about Pattern Recognition:
1. Weak ploting, as his previous novels
2. Characterization is so so, ramshackle dialog
3. Apple fan, just like me, :-), and eBay buff
4. genre buster
5. turgid but sometimes gorgeous prose, with a uncanny similarity with Poul

Beyond the Indian hamlet, upon a forlorn strand, I happened on a trail of

Through rotting kelp, sea cocoa-nuts & bamboo, the tracks led me to their

In the melting snow on the hill-side by the sea, in the last rays of the

I just found an interesting tidbit:
The human species is cursed with an amazing lack of self-awareness — a gap
between what we feel and what we think.
Another gap exists between how we see ourselves and how others see us. Still
another hole in our awareness prevents us from seeing the difference
between what is and what we want it to be. Because of these deficits, with
which most of us suffer to some degree, we have an uncanny ability to create
our own misery.
I will try to explain through hypot... 阅读全帖
