This week Best Buy is giving away a free unicorn plush (they claim retail
value 19.99) with each dvd purchase of Despicable Me on blu ray or dvd. The
price is fair, but what makes this deal gooder is that it says "select
other titles" and when I looked online. I found 3 movies for 5.99 which
makes these full length kids movies 5.99 with unicorn plush.

每隻 unicorn 有多於一個角。 unicorn 這個字就是單角的意思。

这个词的翻译是这么来的，希伯来语中用的是re‘em（רֶאֵ
ם），这是单数形式，复数的话要用re'emim或者remim。所以正
确的翻译应该是horns of a unicorn。KJV的译者发现这样的话就跟unicorn的意思冲突
了，所以就改为复数。但是unicorn这个词本身就是从七十士译本来的，那里是用的
monoceros（μονοκερως ）。至于说为什么七十士译本要用这个词，那就
不得而知了。
一种可能说这种动物是犀牛，monoceros是特指其那根角；另一种可能说这种动物是原
牛，monoceros是指其双角对称，看上去仿佛是一根。 |

汤都没有得喝。
远远不如呆在facebook或者google，不光base和benefits高很多，上市公司股票增值，
很容易trade，还没风险。
更不要说那些像good一样bust的unicorn了。 |

这种unicorn根本就不是什么硅谷精神。反而是投资人和execs贪婪，拖着不上市，把大
量风险仍给common stock的普通员工。硅谷精神不是去这种大公司打工的。这种
unicorn比大公司更坏的是里面还有很多等着liquidation的zoombie employee。
当然uber会成功，execs肯定发财，投资人肯定赚钱，至于在hype形成后才去的打工仔
，应该还不如FLG实在。 |

execs都是一起的，亏不到他们。
公司要是被收购founder还有额外的bonus。当年whatsapp被收购的时候Facebook额外还
给了他家founder 2B。楼主帖子里的good cxo也是揣了大把票子才走人的。
现在讨论的问题是对于那些那很少common stock的工程师来说，unicorn并不比大公司
划算。
目前看来，要不就自己创业或者加入早期团队，传承所谓“硅谷精神”，要不就老老实
实呆在大公司里挣实打实的现金和福利，加上可以真正trade的股票。
当然谁也说不定以后unicorns还会发新大招来招募员工，但是大家不要被空中楼阁给忽
悠了。 |

如果大家都被hype懵了，unicorn可以用自己虚高的估值来忽悠码工；但是如果大家意
识到其实那些没有liquidity的common stock没有那么高价值，签的人少了，unicorn们
自然会多给包裹的。毕竟盘子在增长，需要雇人干活啊。那些有个几十个million的
zombie employee不会老老实实出活的。 |

年因为运行非常成功而超出范围而退出的（这类一共三个，其他两个是Snap和
Pinterest). 虽然公司成立在10年前，应该借近几年fintech的上升势头而开始发力。
14年九月C轮融资晋升unicorn，15年六月估值到达3.5B，估计内部现在也许更高。
个人感觉CK在这儿领域（manage credit score)有先发优势，独特的盈利模式已经确立
。 去年revenue在500M级别，所以独自IPO也是有希望的。如果能在新产品（比如Loan
）和国际化 （尤其是欧洲） 能做好的话，上市后可以预期数十个Billion。

公司的股票是不能比的。
毕竟private valuation是投资人在幕后和公司达成的带有各种优先权的股价估值，这

common stock没有流动性，资产结构不透明，随时准备被投资人、execs和IRS玩儿。

只是提醒大家拿到unicorn common stock offer的时候要斟酌一下risk adjusted
expectation再和FLG的offer比，毕竟公认的upside已经被投资人算进估值里进有优先

不是真正意义的common stock，你可以理解成"virtual shares of common stock"。所
以vest的时候并不会马上trigger tax event，而是要等到RSU/common stock变成
liquid的时候。
据我所知，上市前的Twitter、FB,和目前发RSU的unicorn公司都是不用员工在上市前付
cash交税的。这个版上拿过startup的RSU的人很多的，随便问问就知道了。 |
