the only thing you can do is to get to the mountain earlier,to be the first
to ski!
Local people are crazy about powder, not just holidays, even during weekdays
, powder are tracked up pretty soon.
I only skied powder mountain once last season, but I really like it a lot,
no crowd, easier to find untracked powder. I was told you can even find
untrack snow days after storm.

And it was such a traffic jam! Just imagine a few dozen people line up on
the traverse...And for god's sake, it was a friday!
It was a very tiring hike-up, so I finally gave up the hope of finding an

not everyone can ski down double blank diamonds or expert only untracked
trails. What's the difference? The slope, dude!
I encourage whomever you are to get out of the green house and check out the
real powder snow and the SLOPES.

Pictures say it all about the condition
1. A lot of fun in trees with dry,fresh,untracked powder.
2. I still need to fix my problem of sitting too back.
The pictures were taken on a camera with burst shot by one buddy and video
taken with a camcorder by another buddy, both showing my problem of sitting
too back, which caused the crash. I need to keep remind myself about that! |

there for years.
The best part of the resort is summit chair to Honeycomb Canyon, as shown in
the pic. It was opened late afternoon because of avy control. So we had
some untracked or barely tracked fresh powder and in the woods and the
afternoon wheather was fantastic too!
Loved it.
The only bad part is the paking lot was taken by the condos and you have to
walk longways to get on the chairs. |

repeatedly show up at a given slope in the spring, making it easier to hunt
than midwinter fresh pow. I have seen folks move from lower mountain to
higher mountain on the same day so that they always get the best out of a
spot.
btw, the corn snow at backcountry is very different from the slushy snow in
resort. The untracked snow is floaty, supportive and buttery.

and one day in Beaver creek. Vail is such a big place, if you were up early
enough, you could ski untracked powder in the front side.
Where is the gate? We skiied steep & deep, skree field, and resolutions, and
a few runs in blue sky basin, did not see any such gate. I guess if this is
out of bound, it is probably the pete's bowl?

Visited Alta and Snowbird and liked their terrain. Also noticed that the
lift line can be pretty long and powder can be tracked out very soon(like in
the mineral basin) on a holiday weekend.
I get the 2010-2011 ski utah guide and it looks snowbasin and powder
mountain are not small and could be nice. How is the skier density and lift
line there in a powder day? Anybody tried powerder mountain's cat skiing?

day long with at least 1ft powder. The snow at Little Cloud was so nice,
almost untracked and you just go at it, although in white-out and windy
condition. But the heck!

powder，太爽了！
这里分个snowboarders派，skiers派，双修派，双修snowboarding偏向派，双修skiing
偏向派。。。很多人的观点和印象形成在于他身边看到的，感受到的，听到的。。。尽

UT不熟悉，但雪太大时美加很多雪场会做avy control，譬如放炮人工催动小型雪崩，
严格来说这也不再是纯天然降雪了……吧

Killington有两个很有名的skier camp，分别是Mogul Camp with Donna Weinbrecht
和Explore the Beast with Dan Egan。Donna是史上第一枚冬奥Moguls金牌得主(1992)
, 还拿过46次World Cup冠军。Dan Egan是第一代Extreme Skier，Dan和他哥John兄弟
俩都是Warren Miller在90年代初的御用主演。Donna和 Dan都在U.S. Ski & Snowboard
Hall of Fame榜上有名。
