非camping, 不然根本看不到日出，所以就没有特意的早起。 las cruces和el paso似
乎没啥太让我感兴趣的景点，las cruces无非是些gift shop, 并且是new mexico
state unversity的所在地。 el paso有一个franklin mountain state park, 还有一
个scenic drive，能看到对过的墨西哥。 开车跑到这2个地方随便看了看，照了几张照
片。闲着无聊，灵机一动，决定去墨西哥转一圈。
这些年一直在美国和加拿大路迢迢，走四方，但从来没有想过要去墨西哥。 主要是在
电视上从看到墨西哥的毒枭杀人不眨眼，而且spanish除了一个骂人的葡萄（bitch)，
其他都不会说。 可到了el paso, 发现从el paso开车不到10个mi就能去墨西哥，带着
一颗充满好奇而又忐忑不安的心，俺就上路了。 不去不要紧，去了以后才发现墨西哥
，至少靠近el paso这一块确实有些恐怖。

order you want. But I think this is a reasonable order.
If you know master-level math, you can breeze through all preliminary exams.
Just study manuals. I don't think you even need to read the recommended
textbook for preliminary exams. But actuarial science is not just math.
All the math majors I know (a very biased and limited sample) never failed
any exams. In a period of 4 years, I did a Ph.D. in pure math from a

i think only relatively smaller universities will have that kind of concern.
for bigger unversities, investing for a fish facility is not a big deal.
btw, for that mm, if she wants to kick off her proposed project, she does not need a big facility, besides, my feeling is she is going to migrate to mouse genetics. |

的phd. 之后就琢磨转专业. 问了不少人, 自己也研究了半天, 决定不随大流. 毕竟兴
趣最重要,对于phd来说. 各种考试, 各种选校,各种陶瓷, 各种申请, 各种把老板安排
的事情凑合了. 本来是转了就走, master也不要. 可惜天不遂人愿, 第一次申请华丽的
跪了. 当时队长说:"事不成,只是时间还没到." 于是每天忍着各种恶心又过了一年, 吧
master混到了(虽然没什么用, 不过万一回国了也许能糊弄糊弄别人), 也转出生物了,
却并没有想象中的狂喜, 大概因为以后的挑战更艰苦吧,毕竟是半路转行,啥都得现学.
为了啥转行? 为了钱, 为了同样的劳动强度, 却能多些的收入. 家里不富裕, 以后的家

名这个东西。我想转到一个差不多的大学，因为现在的大学只有associate的，没有
bachelor。
我没有打算说立马就转。因为这里是三年的。我可能会在读完一年到两年，等我自己是
sophomore的时候再转。转也可能转到这个大学附近或这个州附近的学校去。

请unversity of pacific离家最近。春季准备上 两门化学，microbiology还在问学校
可不可以网上修。计划是申请2010年的，准备09年8月申请，但是这样science的课之修
完2们（要是microbiology可以网上修，就算3门），其他的science要09年秋季和10年
春季才可以修完了。我肯定可以拿A。
准备09年1月开始到pharmacy volunteer,这个没有问题，已经找好了。不知道science
只修了2门，如果是全A（文科都是拿得A），有戏吗？学校网站是说只要在入学前修完就可以了，但是我知道science很重要的，我全职上班没有办法白天上课，晚上上课一学期只能上2门science呀 |

Also, local Chinese farmers grow a lot of Chinese vegetables, which are very
cheap.

top university stat phd, 国内top unversity engineering master.
写的比较长，先给个小结。
两个学校interview，拿到一个offer，另外拿到Google的offer，最后去了google，完。
主要的目标是学校，投了一堆Stat/biostat，凡是在IMS, ASA，U Florida, Purdue 以及
UW上贴广告的tenure track AP我基本上都投了，大概30来个。
有一个teaching school（不小心投错了）的phone interview，不了了之。反正也不
match。有一个business school的stat系主任发信来要资料，从口气上看似乎面试很有
希望。可惜，gmail不知道为什么把这个邮件当作了spam。我看到的时候已经是一个月过去了
，赶紧发信去问，已经没戏了。最后拿到两个interview，一个是biostat（大约算是top 5吧，这
个主要是老板的熟人和面子），一个是新加坡NUS的stat.
