USTC Alumni Association in Silicon Valley(USTCAA-SV) is the
LARGEST USTCAA outside China. Because of the large number
of picnic attendees, we have made close to $450 profit :)
We are going to make $513 donation to USTCAF making the
total donation from USTCAA-SV above $3000 (all profits made
from events in the past 6 years). |

In general USTCAF supports any effort by any organization to
help USTC and its people -- including newly incorporated USTCIF
and USTCAA in Boston, and earlier USTCAA in Research Triangle Park
and USTCAA in Silicon Valley (I mentioned these organizations
because they are officially registered organization with bank
accounts which also solicit donations among USTCers.)
I believe founders of these organizations all have good intentions
to help USTC and its |

We will have our USTCAA annual picnic on Saturday August 26th in Cabin John
park, which is conveniently located off I-270 and I-495. We will have our "
typical"/"classical" picnic food served: BBQ, hot dogs, salad and fruits, etc.
. The main purpose is to get together and have a nice time with old friends
and new comers. We will also have a board election this time. I |

i.e. those donating above certain amount -- but the program
was discontinued 5 years ago -- due to the concern of high
operating cost. Many alumni actually declined to receive the
T-shirts and want every penny to go to make difference for
AF award programs.
Some leftover T-shirts (with USTCAF logo) were "sold" to
USTCAA in Silicon Valley -- for those living in Silicon Valley
and attending our annual picnic in the summer, you may see

the USTC 50th anniversary celebration.
