各位大侠知不知道UTRC里面 senior engineer 跟 staff engineer 的区别？ 看
requirement， senior engineer需要1-3年experience， staff engineer需要3-10年
experience 。 这个experience是指哪一种呢？
这两种title的工资能差很远么？

Expert Visa,可以两年左右拿到绿卡。我从来没听说过这种签证，所以上来问问，是他

research center。没去过UTRC上海，但是在那么高端的办公楼里面的几间office，很
难想象能干多深的研究。
如果你将来还想回美国，还是考虑别的出路吧。 |

拿到3大的一个offer，做HEV的开发，9w左右待遇。最近马上要给答复。
最近又收到联合科技研究中心（UTRC)的一个interview邀请，但是是给车厂答复之后。
大家觉得密歇根安全不安全,适合定居么？
不知道UTRC那边怎么样，听说那边挺好的，待遇也还行，看往年的h1b file也有9w4,5左
右，
是不是康州那边生活成本更贵些？
绿卡哪个地方好办啊？
如果拒了车厂又有点担心，怕UTRC拿不到。 |

工作环境: 这里是美国紧密制造业的集中地.那CT来讲,GE, UTC 都是大雇主.
教育环境: 和CA一样, 这里拥有全美最好的公立和私立教育体系.
生活环境: 夏天去海滩, 冬天去滑雪非常方便. 去赌场和Boston, New York很近.
美国的大企业,尤其是高科技企业,phd很多. 如EAST HARTFORD的UTRC的几十各老中,几
乎个个都是PH.D. 他们的研究工作确实是PH.D.的活. 你可能注意到有些招人要求明确
讲明PH.D.的学历要求.
ME，PhD，70K在康州不算高,但也不能称BADLY. 以现在的经济形势, 能找到工作也不错

哪家大公司的R&D的中层骨干和manager不是大多数Phd?
这些人都没有你所谓的hands-on 20年的人牛？
非常大的概率，在大公司R&D 10年经验的人比
所谓的本科毕业，然后工程部门20年经验的人强的多。
后者往往是最近十年skill sets都没更新过的处在捣浆糊阶段的人。
你的逻辑太混乱了。
举一两个例子，谁不会啊，但那说明不了任何问题。
你找个GE,UTRC,NEC,...之类的R&D的人聊聊就知道了。

我也是交大电院硕士出来。不过不是张的组。
我原来组出来的人后来走做研究这条路的，
一个IBM watson,一个UTRC,一个GM R&D,现在都是staff的title。
如果比发文章或者做项目，国内组的人压根没有可比性。
从张组出来的，现在肯定比国内张组的人强很多。
我记得当年图像所考研分数超高，一个班才20人左右。 |

开会的时候，问他们招不招intern，都说招，比如GE，ABB,UTRC,Eaton什么的。
我觉得你既然lab经验少，最好找个牛组去免费锻炼锻炼吧。
什么VT啦，Wisconsin啦，pudue啦，GIT啦，colorado啦，NCSU啦，等等。还有UCF，UC
I，RPI，TAMU,等等，好多学校呢。
不拿钱，光干活，一般老板还是喜欢的吧。

反正Eaton和GE听说都不大好混。ABB和UTRC今年也找满了。Siemens欢迎我去做intern
今年不行只能来年再战了。找工作时机真的挺关键。

board is very good and supportive. Here is my two-cents about interview ,
working etc. Sorry about English because I am very slow in inputing Chinese.
Actually my major is not ME, I worked with a lot of mechnical engineers over
the years. My major is optical engineering. Still I think some of my
lessons will be good for ME people.
The first lesson is that : we do not have a lot of bargin power when we were
just fresh out |

ME fresh phd我从没听说过起薪10万阿.据我所知GE R&D,UTRC之类的也就9万多吧.
你显然是牛人啊。
Anyway, 恭喜!
这个startup也不算是什么startup，公司好像成立10年了，就像很多人说的，它已经过
了风险期，正往上走了；公司做电机产品的，我也没有什么绝活，也无非就是有一段好
的经历（帮助过一另外一个startup公司的产品研发，从概念到成型，commercialize
),外加一段大公司的研发经验，也不是像你所谓的有段绝活，就一普通engineer而已。 |
