Orlando 因为有Disney, 游客比较多，所以周围衍生了很多很多vacation houses.
比如我家的这个房子在Orlando Disney 附近比较有名的emerald island resort, 离
Disney 只有3 miles, 并且有club house, resort 里面还有网球场等设施。房子里家
具家居全部齐全，包括厨房锅碗瓢勺，一个家里所有的东西都应有尽有。还包括私人游
泳池和Spa, 还有自己的私人game room (这个都是车库改的). 我的game room 还有中
国人喜欢的乒乓球桌。我家房子在homeaway 的listing.
这种vacation house投资的好处就是一个象旅馆一样的生意，你只要认真经营它，必定
有收获。而且如果孩子小的话，在每年淡季房子空出来的时候，全家可以去玩，以前在

of course according to the policy of most companies, you need management
approval. but this is for scheduling issue, not for if you are allowed
to take vacation.

number of days is Non-Monetary? You know the vacation number of days, and
you know the wage per day, so the payment is fixed, right? I think it's kind

我以前签offer的时候问过系主任这30天vacation怎么算，回答是nobody uses it, we
just wrote it there to be consistent with other public service sectors.
我工作之后发现这个vacation有一个用处，就是用来计算你的daily salary (perhaps
also hourly)。
比如两个人12月薪水一样，都是11万。一个人是220天工作（假设30天假期，104个周末
，11个节假日），另一个人是215天（假设35天假期，其他相同）。前者daily salary
是500，后者是是511.6.
这样，如果学校派人去某地教课5天（不在faculty本身的duty范围内），前者补贴2500
，后者补贴2558 (教课的钱另算，一般5天的课（如果是5个全天的）我们这边是～
12000）。

概230小时）把最后日期延到6月1号。其实半个月前我就问这个问题，HR的人总是一个
回答，vacation hours将折算成薪水，和severance pay一起发给我。本人现在485 AOS
阶段，所以想尽量把最后日期延到6月1号，有更多的时间找下家，避免尽早遇上485
RFE。
可学校HR的人根本不会从你的角度出发。所以上本版来问问，有没有什么办法。是不是
这需要老板配合才行啊？因为layoff信是老板签的。是不是要和老板商量好，只雇一个
月，另外一个月自己主动take vacation. 是不是得这样操作才行啊？

hotwire上搜索了一下，发现定Vacation package的价钱比单买机票单定旅馆便宜多了
，单定机票的价格和中等偏低价位的Vacation package的价格就一个人便宜$100块左右
。我在琢磨着是不是定Vacation package更划算啊？大家都是怎么搞定机票和旅馆的呀

我前一份工作本来谈好了最后一个工作日是11/30，这样termination day应该从12/1开始算吧？
当时走的时候HR算vacation pay说是会覆盖到11/30号的，但是昨天给我email，说是她们给我的termination day是11/30，这样最后半个月的vacation hours就不能算，无端端少付我一笔钱。
难道last work day = termination day? |

现在说说住院医生vacation吧。vacation呢，本来是好事情，但是一定要安排好，不要
增加额外的烦恼。特别是intern的时候，最忌讳为了这种事情引起不必要的不愉快。
第一，定假期之前，要事先了解一下，有没有跟你有关的安排，比如轮到你give
morning report,轮到你back up call,轮到你specialty clinic，或者program要组织
活动，很多事情都是一下子不容易想起来的，要看email或者calendar才行。
第二，不要太早订票，以防临时有事情，当然太晚订票可能经济上不合算，呵呵。我以
前的program规定提早一个月申请vacation,我觉得一个月左右差不多。
第三，找好人cover。这个是很重要的，这时候就看平时的人品了，平时乐于助人，这
时候人家也会帮你。要找信得过的人，expecting病人的重要检查报告，该打的电话，
重要的事情列个list。走之前把事情都处理好，不要留下尾巴 |
