先废话一下严肃的，关于国内的父母愿意出高价送孩子出国这件事。
两年前的夏天，我妈在国内的同事到美国来出差，还带来了她16岁的女儿。这位阿
姨国内某知名大学的博士教授，丈夫经商，家里非常有米。今年5月，她发信给我妈，
说想让女儿出国读书，问我妈能不能帮着查查这边的私立学校，能不能给她寄回去一本
英语课本。我娘和我表示很鸭梨，因为美国高中不使用统一的英语课本。目前流行的众
多课本其实也无一例外就是不同体裁的文学名著的节选本而已，该选择用哪几本名著教
学还是由县教育部和老师们自行决定。所以，一本英文课本的参考作用其实不大。
后来我和我妈又谈起这位阿姨。为了女儿在私立学校的教育，她愿意付每年4W美金
的学费。我娘猛颤了一下，小声问我，“那不是跟哈佛的学费一样了么？”
每年4W的学费……真的值得么？
可能照国内的习惯来说（说错了还请原谅哟），私立学校的教育质量是普遍很好的
。但在这里却不一定，私立学校可以是教会学校，可以是救济学校等等，质量惊人地参

她去H,她自己选择了Y.这孩子练的游泳，州里比赛拿名次，应该是能进前5名的水平，
但拿不了冠军。学习成绩绝对是好的，虽然不是valedictorian,但在学校里能排前三。

比如你小孩如果能进Tufts说不定我还会恭喜
问题在于，这个事情说的不是一般的学生，而是堂堂valedictorian，竟然都进不了藤
校，这个就太可悲了。而且是三所好学校的华人孩子都一样，竟然都跳不出去，这个就
太恐怖了
就是有你这种国人父母，还谈什么反歧视、华人翻身，都别指望了
好好的苗子就这么给耽误了，可以想象父母是怎么教育他们的，就是只知道成绩，从头
到脚唯一厚实的部分是眼镜，其他啥都不懂，整个app唯一看得进去的就是4.0 GPA，这
种人Ivy第二关screening都过不了
你如果真的不觉得这个事情有问题，觉得好学校的顶尖华人学生去了Tufts没有问题，
那你在美国算是白呆了，而且你的下一代也没戏了

数学好，有没有进USAMO? AIME, 有进USAMO ,也有被拒的。
参加debate,有没有进national circut tournament 拿奖？认识一个亚男，SAT2400,
debate national level tournament 第一名，成绩是全年级第一。大滕都录了。
有passion, 也要有achievement.
建立math club, 难道这个学校那么差，原来都没有math club?
好的学校这些club都早已有，学生需要竞选才能当officer。
申学校的essay非常重要，短短几百字，不但要体现自己好的写作水平，还要把自己的
passion，追求及时高中几年的经历浓缩在短短几百字的文章。让自己的personality跃
然纸上，让AO喜欢你。

1）统计数据几乎没有用，因为十年前甚至四年前的统计数据，和该案的原告是否被歧
视，毫无关系，除非你说这个统计数据已经是铁证。（如果是铁证的话，还找什么原告
呀？）
2）ACT 满分，SAT II 满分的考生，比比皆是。很难说没被录取是被歧视的结果。以这
种失利的考生起诉哈佛，胜算不大。要不 BLUM 先生和赵先生联手，在华裔中造势，大
概就是想找一个更靠铺的原告。

let me clarify my points further:
it's my view that this strategy is mostly used for getting into a good state
school based on its in-state quota - so here in texas, for UT austin it's
the top 7% - you have a better chance of being in the top 7% at a lesser
school than a nationally ranked one. so if you are determined that you kids
will go to one of these schools only, this could work (although i'd still

从未见过父亲甚至双亲.
Duante Culpepper是在监狱里出生,
母亲是因为持枪抢劫在服刑的十几岁少女.
他的养母一共把十五个孩子抚养长大.
少年时代的DC在生母出狱见了面后,
仍不愿与之团聚, 选择继续与养母在一起
当然更多这样背景的人可能没活过中学就暴卒街头了,
他们这些是极少数.
不过, 想想这些人如果真的成长在双亲健全的家庭,
今天可能就是一个勉强能养家糊口的Car/Insurance salesman而已…
