小女穷人一枚，有10K的积蓄想投资。在这里潜水学习了1个月，感觉还是云山雾罩，所以想请各位帮忙分析
1. 是投Vanguard Target Retirement 2050 Inv (VFIFX) 还是选Core Fund （Total Stock Market Index （VTSMX）or (Diversified Equity (VDEQX))
my concerns are:
1. VFIFX and VTSMX/VDEOX 都是stock >80% and high risk,那他们有啥不同呢，我该如何选择，有哪些其他的方面我也需要考虑呢？
2. expense ratio: VFIFX 0.20% 是 and VISMX 是 0.18%， 但是读到一篇文章说

My 401(k) performance: 1-year return -39.6%.
VFIFX performance: 1-year return -40.87%.
Therefore: speculation return: +1.27%.
Market timing style:
1) VFIFX is the only MF purchased.
2) Did not sell any VFIFX position during the past 1 year. i.e., the
market timing decision was limited to "buy or not buy".
3) Randomly DCA'ed most of the time.
4) Changed asset allocation for new contribution 3 times during the
past year. |

同期: VFIFX -37%.
偶只持有过VFIFX和money market.
随着401(k)在portfolio中的份额日见长大，偶也不得不开始重视it了, //sigh... |

I only modified future contributitions. There is no restriction there.
If Vanguard doesn't have that restriction I would have sold VFIFX as well,
which will magnify the effect of market timing. |

Vanguard's target fund has same ER as all underlying funds. There is no
extra charge.
You did good homework, better than most people here

FUSEX: don't know what's the Vanguard fund.

I like Vanguard since I use their target retirement funds, VFIFX is
0.19%, much better than Fidelity's FFFHX 0.8%. |

get some exposure, and learn how to investment.
Morningstar is a much better place to learn than here.

No, you don't need to pay extra besides individual funds expenses for target
retirement funds at Vanguard. |

it happens. Heck, I even do not see OP hold it for 5 years.
I think any investor with 90-10 allocation should understand he could lose
40-45% principal if EU blowup, and there is a reasonably good chance. |
