在年薪40万加赛季奖金外, 如果他能再待五年, 会有一笔
额外的奖金, 据估计超过一百万. 也就是说, 他实际上拿到了
一个60万年薪的五年合同. 对于VT, 这是个好消息.
Foster的防守队伍是VT能够在缺乏talent的情况下在BCS占据
一席之地的关键. 这些年Foster的防守成为VT的标志, 2006更
是在防守队伍中排名第一. 今年排名据说严重下降, 但还是在
对手等分和放pass上面进入前15.
明年VT的进攻应该进一步增强, QB进入senior, WR今年进步明显.
Boykin和Coale表现都督不错, RB方面有Evans和Ryan两员虎将,
还有David Wilson坐板凳. 唯一的问题在于OL, 今年的OL是历年
来最强的, 还是这个烂样子, 明年不知道能不能提高.
防守上, Cody Grim, Cam Martin, Kam, Virgil都要走, 但是
Foster留下了! 有他在, 防守就有了主心骨. VT的防守基本上是

Chanselor这些绝对主力，Bud Foster再牛，也难为无米之炊啊。
Recruit也就这样了，不是传统强队，很难挖来5星的。Ryan和Tyrod都很不错了。但近
年没有防守方面的牛人加入。明年如果Tyrod受伤，不知道那个Logan Thomas能怎么样
，他是TE转的，应该不如Tyrod。 |

歌剧应该瓦格纳来写，哈哈。回头找来听听。巴洛克音乐感觉很形式化，hopkins这首
诗里的proud fire, great stormfowl, purple thunder, colossal smile却都很激情
浪漫。是不是purcell也不是那么形式规矩，所以hopkins听出他的激情啊？
嗯上帝保佑也通。他用完成时，可能是玩词序，就像结尾的thunder purple和purple
of thunder.至亲挺好的，至圣至高很加强crescendo，呵呵。我本来第一句也连用三个
美妙，但觉得中文读起来不顺，就自作主张砍掉了一个…… |

国，独自一人在纽约混饭吃。和当地的小混混搞点偷鸡摸狗的事情。因为人意气，肯帮
助人，又替人出头，杀了当地恶霸什么的，被人敬仰，很多人投靠，开了olive oil的
进口公司。从意大利家乡进口olive oil。在禁酒时期倒腾oive oil到加拿大，挣了很
多钱。染指赌博，酒店，夜总会，派出Hyman Roth到古巴搞蔗糖，后控制古巴的酒店，
蔗糖和通讯。因为拒绝了Virgil Sollozzo提出的帮助他贩卖毒品的建议，被打数枪，
因为穿着防弹衣没有被打死。后来在医院里又险些被暗杀，因为儿子Michale Corleone
的保护而免于一死。后将教父权力转让给儿子Michale Corleone，在和孙子玩耍中倒地
不治。Veto Corleone有三个儿子Sonny Corleone, Fredo Corleone 和Michale
Corleone，一女Connie Corleone，一个义子Tom Hagen。

你会拉丁语和古希腊语？《伊利亚特》和《奥德赛》引用的是古希腊语吗？我都不认识
。这些还有古希腊本存下来吗？我以为都只有阿拉伯语的翻译本了。
嗯，virgil史诗很模仿古希腊史诗，不过好像已经很罗马化了，很规矩，很为罗马帝国
的中心思想服务，没有古希腊那种纵横不羁的神韵。
歌剧不懂哎，咳咳我找雪叔去。
fabian我也没看过，不过carpe diem已经成了个约定俗语了，这方面的诗应该挺多是吧。
没看过euripedes的alcestis，看过他的medea，非常喜欢，复仇的激情爆发和chorus的
收敛怜悯的旁观，一放一收，很有张力。尼采的《悲剧的诞生》也说了很多euripedes
，跟尼采说瓦格纳一样矛盾，一会儿捧得很高，一会儿贬得很低。不过我觉得他还是很
喜欢euripides和瓦格纳的，因为他们和他一样充满激情，呵呵。
Aeneas的船队路遇波赛东煽动的风神，颠沛流离，飘荡到北非，因而见到Dido。

发帖数: 1694 | 36 你说得很有道理，其实作为父母来说，希望的只是儿女一生平安，不愁衣食，家庭幸福。
要达到这个，对于背景普通的人而言，这个的确是保守中庸的道路可能性大。
对中式教育我没有好感，接触了不少这类小朋友，越是“好”家庭家教越严谨的小朋友就
越拘谨，dominated，怕表达自己的看法。这样的小朋友不一定是不好，他们很多都
会很没有悬念地读好大学，中产阶级舒服的生活是不大有问题的。但我不同意这个中
式教育就会intact，就会少struggle。小时候，家里是越听话成绩越好的小朋友越好，
学校里，那些活泼的捣蛋的更popular，更糟糕的是，学校那些popular的小朋友竟
然读书也不差。大了的时候，发现读了好大学找到好的entry-level工作却发现有
bamboo ceiling，年薪十万也没有好女孩子看得上眼，和以前被灌输的读好大学找
好工作就人生一切顺利的鼓励非常不同，这些小朋友没有struggle？起码我见到很
多被灌输为同一个方向努力中式教育下的小朋友很多现在就有理念和现实的
struggle，不觉得他们intact。他们还是在华人聚居多的地方呢，如果在红脖聚居
点就更困惑了。

要你真的想的话。我想我这辈子都不会读完原著的，因为给学生看的书有macron标明
长短音，所以看诗还能很勉强地感受到诗律，但原著的书是没有macron的，那么就要
基础打得很好才能不查字典都记得长短音了，这个在prose问题不大，因为引起误解的
时候不多，但在verse时不记得长短音怎么默读呢？我觉得这些verses感受不到诗律美
感（我不大喜欢看故事）就大打折扣，这就是基础浮的坏处了。我想我会以后找本英
文翻译版先翻翻，觉得那段最有意思就研究一下原著，教教小朋友入门就够了。
你的问题我其实是不知道的。不过我估计可能那些希腊罗马人和我们的观念比较不同
吧，没有那么成王败寇吧。我看了几出古典剧感觉他们都比较注重“命运”的概念，在
这点上人是没有反抗的能力的，凡是人和命运有对抗，都是命运完胜的，因此人的价
值不是在于结果如何，而是在于如何行为，我觉得他们还是在这点上颇有尊严很骨气
的。

中的8g，好象是梁漱溟讲的，原来日本近世学者评价小亮亮这一中国近古文人偶像时提
到日人的一个疑惑：为什么要强调三顾茅庐呢，如果大耳刘不礼贤下士，（近古）文人

A little bit more:
I am not working in chemistry. But as far as I know, besides Frechet, people
like Virgil Percec (UPenn), Hawker CJ (IBM) are also quite active in the
field. Frechet himself regards Percec as one of most creative polymer chemists
at present. Hawker worked as a postdoc for Frechet for a while. Some of the
neat stuffs from Hawker may not appear in articles first, due to the nature of
