习的，居然道貌岸然地去做faculty，真是造化弄人。
兴趣确实很重要，我觉得自己并没有有意识的wake up，本科的时候兴趣在玩上，
研究生的时候发现自己的研究也有点意思。但是我觉得后天的 intelligence，也
就是做研究的思维能力，解决问题的能力非常重要，如果在PhD training中没有
得到这方面的提高，再往下很难。本科放羊不是特别要紧，如果PhD也整个放羊
了，就基本没翻身的机会了。 |

Wake Forest， 我还真不了解这个学校，查了差没有工学院。但是20多名，基本和公立
里面的uva umich一样排名了。
这个学校相比Lehigh, PSU（非主校区但是有机会转过去） ， UConn, Rochester的话
会选哪个呢，想听听faculty的意见。
我是会建议他读容易谋生的专业比如cs和工程类，据说经济类也不好找工作, 因为毕竟
要挣钱工作和身份这些，所以我倾向有工学院的大学。但是会不会排名高的学校再申请
master的话会有优势呢？ 比如wake forest 读了再申请更好的学校读硕士，他家也有
cs专业。
假设他目前不差钱的话，大牛们有何高见？ |

至于专业排名，那其实是受规模影响的。比较大的学校都排得高，但是不说明那里的平
价水平一定就高。
在我看来这三个学校各有各的好，但无论是本科排名还是研究专业排名，其实最重要的
是看对招生和申请资金会有什么影响而不是看具体的排名。你就随便问问身边的学生吧
，如果他们申请研究生院而同时拿到了这三个学校的录取他们会选择哪个？我的猜测是
Wake Forest >= Stony Brook > Buffalo。而对于申请资金而言。这三个学校的研究环
境都一样优秀，并不构成实质性差别。
另外，发考题和学生不一样的一点是，对于学生，学校只是一个临时场所，生活好不好
没有必要考虑。但是发考题必须考虑生活因素。Wake Forrest天气好地方好。 Stony
Brook也不错。而Buffalo那个地区经济一直在萎缩，冬天雪又大得吓死人。所以无论是
从研究还是从个人的角度来看怎么选也不会选那里吧。

planning.

早上6点45起床，给小孩起床，迟早餐，8点上学
not sure why you need over one hour for that. It could be manageable to half
a hour.
-- Get the kid in routine. get up as soon as wake up(you need to have him/
her sleep earlier so that he/she can wake up easily).
--Try not to have breakfast too complicated.

的烤鸡摊子有卖类似虎皮尖椒的，是烧烤出来的JALAPENO，忍不住买了几个，第二天晚
饭的时候把剩的两个吃下去没一会儿，胃部就一阵痉挛，一头虚汗，人都站不稳，然后
窝到沙发里。当时家里只有我两岁的双胞胎儿子，只记得他们拉着我的手叫“MAMI，
WAKE UP，MAMI， WAKE UP”。当时真的觉得要死掉了。还好大概5分钟后就没事了
，不知道是胃对辣椒受不了还是冰箱里才拿出来的剩辣椒变质了，但那以后再也不敢猛
吞辣椒了，以前在国内可以一大盘虎皮辣椒配白饭当一顿的。 |
