for the first one, I recommend you create a seperate DB for DB warehousing
or other usages.
It all depends on what kind of Production DBs you got.
I assume they are OLTP, not OLAP.
It also depends on what kind of reporting and how fast you want that done.
How big the DBs are, how powerful your production servers and the offline
servers are, etc.
Anyway, my point is your question is too large to give a simple solution.

块，用oracle和mysql比较多。有ocp，c/c++用的比较多，c#还行，java ee半桶水，

violation of 3 normal form for table design.
An alternative design may be creating a look up table with two column age
and agecode. the original table only includes a col called date of birth,
the acutual aga could be computed - in this design you don't need to do such
update in the first place. But i am just speaking in general, maybe your
application is some kind of data warehousing, denomalization could be valid

公司环境是典型的硅谷IT公司，有吃有喝有玩，老中不少，founder是一个华人，后来
为上市，管理层被投资方大换血，从大公司拉过来很多高层，两个月前又被追加了五千
万的 pre-IPO funding。
公司的招聘的culture很social，70%以上都是朋友推荐，前同事，前老板，走猎头的很
少。今年进了很多人，但DBA还是很一次招。

我将来空一点，可能会再发一个帖子，将大家的问题集中起来，挑一些有代表性的作个

当初发这个帖子没想太多，只是想将我的经历实实在在、没有任何虚构地告诉大家，贵
在真实，希望对与我经历类似的朋友有所帮助。一年前，我刚开始学数据库课程，也经

Tableau只是一个比较现代化的Reporting工具，要找一份 Tableau Developer的工具，
光学会用这个软件是不够的，必须对微软的BI、 Data Warehousing，Big Data等都有
比较深入的了解，当然不一定要是这些方面的专家，但必须多多少少知道一些，起码在

db首要职责把storage给做好
其次分离读写，交给再后面一层的business intelligence去搞
现在兴起的是后面那一层的bi
搞统计那拨人就天天在db后面搞
oracle最大的问题是读写无法分离
用行话说就是，it is not designed to read，it is designed to write
然后搞出了什么data warehousing，跟屎一样
都自己瞎搞，现在就是如何来优化这个东西
dw已经过时了，以前忽悠dw的现在都在忽悠hive
就像以前忽悠grid computing现在都在忽悠cloud一样 |
