事情发生在弗吉尼亚州莫内塔市富兰克林县。两名记者分别是现年24岁的艾莉森·帕克（女）和27岁的摄像亚当·沃德（男），他们是CBS旗下电视台WDBJ7的员工。
从电视直播中可以看到，艾莉森正在莫内塔市水桥广场附近对一名穿白色套装的女性进行采访，随后枪声响起，摄像头逐渐向地上滑落，枪声持续了六七声，可以听到现场传来一连串尖叫声。画面镜头最终定格在地面上。
由此可以推断，凶手是先击中摄像亚当，然后再朝艾莉森和采访对象射击。从画面上还可以看到，枪手穿着黑色衣服，拿着一把长枪，在画面上留下了一个凶狠的表情。
直播画面直接切回到演播室，主持人显然被刚才发生的一幕震惊了。
WDBJ7电视台的经理杰弗里·马克斯随后确认，这两名员工已经死亡。“艾莉森和亚当今天早晨6：45分遭遇枪击后不久身亡。我们不知道枪手的动机是什么，但警方正在追查枪手的行踪……他们的遇害让我们心碎。”

The FBI is now involved in a stabbing investigation in Roanoke County.
Wasil Farooqui is charged in the incident that seriously hurt a man and
woman at the The Pines Apartments on Saturday.
Witnesses told police that during the attack Farooqui was yelling "Allah
Akbar."
He remains in jail tonight without bond.

The state health commissioner says there are two confirmed cases of
swine flu in Virginia.
An adult male from eastern Virginia, and an adult female from
central Virginia. Each had traveled to Mexico. Both had mild
illnesses and are recovering. Neither required hospitalization.
Dr. Karen Remley says there will probably be more cases in Virginia.
There are more than 100 confirmed cases across the United States,

Virginia Tech beheading suspect's case sent to a grand jury
The case against a Virginia Tech doctoral student accused of k
illing a fellow student at a campus coffee shop will be turned
over to a grand jury.
Haiyang Zhu is charged with first-degree murder in the death of
22-year-old Xin Yang, who was beheaded in her dormitory cafe
where she met Zhu for coffee January 21st.

Virginia will close nearly half of its interstate
rest areas July 21 as officials struggle with a
$2.6 billion shortfall in the transportation budget.
The Virginia Department of Transportation announced Monday
that all but one of the 19 rest areas scheduled to close
will be shuttered later this month.

Governor Tim Kaine announced plans to cut
the state's budget Wednesday.
It's the fourth time in less than a year that Kaine
has had to scale back the two-year budget that runs
through next June.
On Wednesday, Kaine said the state has made some tough
choices, and more tough choices are ahead. But he said
the state is "well-positioned" to weather the downturn
in the economy.
Kaine said this re-forecast will require the state to
close a revenue gap of approximately $1.5 billion.

Authorities are investigating what they believe to be
a double homicide in Montgomery County.
Two bodies were found along Craig Creek Road in the
Jefferson National Forest Thursday morning. The sheriff's
office identified the victims as David Lee Metzler and
Heidi Lynn Childs, both from the Lynchburg area.
The two were found in the Caldwell Fields area by a man
walking his dog.

据透露，法院将在明年四月对朱海洋做出判决，他最高可被判处终身监禁。
今年二十五岁的朱海洋来自中国宁波，于二00八年秋季入学，
攻读农业和应用经济学博士学位；而来自北京的杨欣则是今年一月八日
刚刚抵达美国学习会计学，孰料遭遇飞来横祸，死于非命。
