I would add "trad climbing" into this. Top rope and sports are in general
much safer, even outdoors.
Other than that I totally agree with you. Everyone should realize the
inherent risk. Don't think you are different or you are wiser than other

thanks, you're so luck to have so much time at your hand.
it's a coincidence that i looked the same plan a couple of weeks ago and
thought i should follow it through this winter. but the coach at my RC
discouraged me from doing that, he feels it's wiser to take it easy
through winter with ~ 20 mpw maintenance and no hard running. hopefully i
will be energized for spring/summer training. i guess his concerned about
my age :D

Men do stupid things trying impress girls. I almost got myself killed trying
to impress a girl with basketball dunk -- it was a success but the steel
stand tipped over from my weight and I made a really narrow escape from
being crushed below. That was in high school and this incident made me a
wiser man :-)
