然后用setenv设置显示
但是由于我的机器是通过router连出去的，只有内部子网IP地址，
用内部网的IP设置，发现xfig不work。

装了fedora9的最小安装，无xwin，无gnome等
现在想装个基本的xwin，所以
yum install xorg-x11-server-Xorg +dependencies,
yum install xorg-x11-drv-i810 (intel driver)
yum install xorg-x11-xinit
问题来了，startx启动不了，google了一下大概xorg.conf设置有问题，
就让X自动设置了一个， Xorg -configure
然后 X -config ~/xorg.conf.new 这时候xwin启动了，
但是有个错
error setting MTRR (base = 0xe0000000, size = 0x10000000, type = 1) Invalid
argument (22)
似乎xwindows没问题，我就把这个xorg.conf.new考到了/etc/X11/xorg.conf，
startx
靠，奶奶的，写到一半似乎startx也能启动了，先占个坑，有问题了再 |

I used to install fedora from minimum w/o xwin, then only install necessary
packages such as gnome-desktop to keep away most gnome garbage from my
system.

I am using windows (192.168.0.11) Cygwin to ssh +x to 192.168.0.10 to get
the display. Cygwin xwin has weird problem. How can I use rdesktop to access
vbox guest (10.0.2.15)? |

it on docking station (which plug in two monitors, one DVI, one VGA). it can
't use Xwin anymore. Everytime I start X, it immediately goto powersave mode
. What went wrong?
It is Intel 915 mobile GPU. Should I switch to fancy distribution such as
ubunto? |

记本是windows的，也装了个单独的emacs。可不可以，在笔记本上远程改linux上的程
序呀？ 文件传来传去，很容易弄混。用xwin 显示又太慢。

的命令，他会弹出个新窗口给emacs 吗？
看了一下，他好像和我装的’SSH secure shell client'差不多？我现在可以用shell
client 和xwin一起用，就是窗口是图像显示，有点慢。

然后参考刚才上上贴对header file 的处理。一步步来，有些头文件对应的列表，可以
在网络上搜搜，比如 unistd.h, sys/*.h, dirent.h; 第三方的库也要准备好。
几个问题如果系统中没有用的话,还是可以很快完成的。
1. GUI，如果有motif xwin 等的界面，试试用 QT
2. 如果有opengl, 需要用 glew, regular expression 也需要单独的库
3. 如果有遇到share memory/semaphore 的部分,需要重新做
4. 如果有文件io 的低级操作的部分，要重来
5. 如果有遇到 signal 的处理的部分，估计要重来。

If it's running Unix/Linux, then your own Linux's X11 with SSH can do the job.
If you use a Windows client to display the graphics of a Unix/Linux server,
consider Exceed or XWin-32. |

给我个BIG PICTURE
老板最近交给我一个软件，在SGI上跑的，可以做一些简单的
3D建模，是另外一个研究小组写的（现在已经找不到乐）
用的很别扭，首先，文件格式问题，我想把建模的结果
拷屏显示出来，发现真费劲，SGI上软件很不好使，拷屏出来的
图象面目全非，我用的是XV
其次，编程实现问题。老板自己对变成所知了了，竟然想让我也弄一个
类似的软件出来。我的天，我以前都是用VC编程，现在叫我在
XWIN下面设计软件，是不是难度比较大呀？！可以供参考的资料少，
而且 UNIX下编程的调试功能一般，真不知道从何下手。
我现在还没有弄清楚在SGI上做的必要性，请教搞3D的大侠一般都是用的什么工具

但是针对IRIX没有定论,好象没见到有谁通过,可能IRIX和其它的
UNIX操作系统还是有点区别的
我在IRIX的文档里面倒是见到关于MOTIF的介绍
是不是应该用MOTIF在IRIX下面做界面设计啊?! |
